OK
Pros: Small, well equipped, good price for a 14". Has Win7, VGA connector, and DVD burner.
Cons: Low battery life, way too little memory
Overall Review: I wanted a small, 14" for travel. This was just about the lowest price I could find. But I bought 8 Gigs of RAM at the same time! 2Gigs of RAM is a joke. Battery life is short (2 hours or so) but when I travel it is always plugged in when I use it (hotel rooms, presentations, etc.) So this works fine for my needs.
Disappointed
Pros: Lots of power and goodies
Cons: Intel VGA driver fails to load
Overall Review: This is a follow-up to my previous post. I got a response to my contact through their web page to download the latest driver from their website. But in my communication to them I pointed out that it WAS the latest drivers that failed to load! Their comment in the review was to contact them through their web page, which I already had. Unfortunately, they have had no helpful response and Newegg's return policy on this motherboard is restricted. I will have to cut my losses and buy another board from a different mfgr.
Close, but not perfect
Pros: I love the web programming feature of this system. It is much better than with earlier versions. The phone/tablet ability is cute, but cumbersome. Most people will prefer the remote to using a tablet. The rf link to a hub, and then an IR blaster solves a lot of aiming and sensitivity problems.
Cons: But the touch screen is the Achilles heel. It will select when you want to slide, slide when you want to select, do nothing when you want to do something, and do something when you want to do nothing!! You have to concentrate when you want to use it, and who wants to concentrate on the remote when you are cuddling in front of an entertainment system. There are other weaknesses. If you have two cable boxes, you still only get one set of favorites (for one of the boxes). If you manually add a favorite, the channel number you add shows up twice, but the label doesn't show at all (example: add channel 220, CSPAN. The number 220 shows up both inside and below the icon. The label, CSPAN, doesn't show up at all!) My wife didn't like the remote, so I bought a second, Smart Control. I could not program it to the same hub as the Ultimate, but had to add a second hub and second IR blaster for her to use. Works, but awkwardly.
Overall Review: The concept for the Ultimate with the user interface of the older model 880 would be a great combination. THAT's what I wish I had.
Great Product
Pros: Very clean, clear sound, comfortable to wear. Great product
Cons: a little touchy to tune
Overall Review: I have two of these, one for home and one for a vacation condo. I need them for when my daughter is over and she and my wife are talking too loudly! I have mine connected to the audio out from the TV. You need to read the directions --- tune the frequency with one knob and then the volume with the other knob. For those having a problem hearing only static --- make sure the TV or receiver is set up to provide an audio signal out where you have the phones connected (green light signifies a signal). That connection may be turned off by default! I have mine set so that I can have both the headphones connected AND the volume from the receiver at the same time, but both the TV AND the receiver may need to be set up properly to achieve this.
Disappointed
Pros: Small, compact box that when it performs, it performs well. Mine has both USB and SATA
Cons: I purchased two of these some time ago. I have been using one that has worked great. I just opened the other one today and it does not work. Not sure why, but I suspect the internal connector is mis-aligned or faulty. The drive, by itself, connects to the computer just fine. But it won't connect with the enclosure in either mode.
Overall Review: You simply slide the drive down into the enclosure and can't tell if the connector has mated properly. There is no locking mechanism (i.e. screws) just the press fit of the end cap that slides on.
Throwing 2 away
Pros: Quiet and fast
Cons: I have two of these. On one computer, the boot record failed twice, causing a reinstall each time. Finally switched back to a magnetic drive. The second computer worked fine until one day a complete crash in the middle of an operation. Partition managers say the drive is "not formatted!" We are throwing both drives away.
Great little devies
I needed to get a second audio stream out of my receiver's Zone 2 HDMI port without impacting the main zone's output. This device worked perfectly. Delivery was very fast. For me it was the perfect solution.
