No Complaints
Pros: Cheapest 2GB SO-DIMMs I could find, standard install, nothing wrong at all
Cons: Mirror-like heat spreader makes you want to polish off your fingerprints
Overall Review: Are there more than 2 kinds of RAM? I mean it either comes in "It works" or "It doesn't work" in the target machine. This one works just fine in mu ThinkPad T60p. No BSODs. It makes everything run just a little better...
5x Slower than 7200rpm External...
Pros: It was large-ish capacity, small size, and kind of cheap...
Cons: ...but in backing up 8x ~1.5GB files (12 GB in total) it has transfer speeds of ~20MB/s on a USB 3.0 port. I benchmarked that against a USB 3.0 external drive (7200rpm) on the same port, same files. The HDD pushed ~120 MB/s and made this thumb drive look positively pokey.
Overall Review: What's the point of having a slow flash drive?
Good disk Performance, Case Lacking
Pros: Inside is ST3000DM001 9YN166, which is a 7200rpm disk. Throughput was snappy. (And since I was comparing with a USB3.0 PQI thumbdrive that took 4x longer, it seemed really Snappy). There is a power BUTTON, not a power switch on the rear. The DC Adapter (wall wort) has different plugs that attach to it for USA, UK, European, and Australia 2-prong.
Cons: Case is HEAVY but not particularly robust. Case has SHARP EDGES and CORNERS. The Drive electronics are 6mm from the bottom exterior and the ventilation perforations are quite large. If your desk is a mess, be careful not to set it on a paperclip... The case gets warm. Gray anodized finish with 100-grit graining means that your fingers leave bits of skin in the finish. You can clean it, but who wants to? Power cord is cheap 22AWG 2 conductor. I guess Porsche Design stopped thinking about the accessories.
Overall Review: I use it for backup only and take it off the shelf weekly to use it. Formatting a 2.0GB partition on it NTFS took 3 hours 27 minutes. Out of the box it was formatted in 3 partitions and wanted you to use the LaCie partitioning tool.
Nice but Pricey...and not for Laptops
Pros: Logitech has updated their software (Feb 2007) so that their webcams no longer crash my laptop. Nice wide angle view. Image clean. Sits nicely on LCD monitor. Compensates for inside to outside lighting moderately quickly.
Cons: No ability to close focus. Won't sit on my laptop at all. Buttons on unit not labeled at all.
Overall Review: What do you have to do to get a webcam manufacturer to think about how a small business user will utilize their product?
