NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2-bay (diskless) w/ 3 yr warranty

Pros: The drive works well with the a pair of 2TB Seagate ST2000DL003 drives purchased together from Newegg. Drives physically installed quickly and easily; the mounting screws were even included. The hardrive and CPU temps stayed within their normal range even during the initial 1TB+ load to the drives. The fan can kick up dust/papers on any shelf it's placed on but the noise isn't excessive. Overall very happy with the physical aspects of this device.

Cons: I didn't notice when purchasing this item that all the other reviewers rated themselves as somewhat high or high in technical knowledge. While I have extensive computer knowledge, it is not in the area of networking. I believe this is the source of my poor initial experience with this Netgear product. I found the product setup and usage very unfriendly for the novice and the instructions from Netgear extremely frustrating. The documentation seems to always tell me to see another section/document for any details. I went through 5 different Netgear "guides" for the product before reverting to Google and alternative sources of troubleshooting. 4 days and several hours of research later it's still not fully configured. I gave up and called one of my network savy friends to finish the job for me.

Other Thoughts: Rating of 5 on the hardware minus 2 for the poor documentation. If you have a tech savy friend, consultant you can hire, or a just want to get some hands on learning with networking , go for it. It's been a rock solid device so far.
