Probably OK for Modern CPUs

ZALMAN CNPS7000V(AL)-1-PWM 92mm FSB (Fluid Shield Bearing) Silent Pure Aluminum CPU Cooler with enhanced performance and silent operation
ZALMAN CNPS7000V(AL)-1-PWM 92mm FSB (Fluid Shield Bearing) Silent Pure Aluminum CPU Cooler with enhanced performance and silent operation

Pros: Nice design Good size Low profile Lightweight

Cons: Inadequately cools my AM2 processor Base does not cover entire CPU heat spreader Fan quite loud at top speed No heatpipes, but that's why it's cheap Base is not smooth, has some rough texture

Overall Review: I got this for my HTPC, which is using an old AM2 board with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+, which is 65 watts. Can't find anywhere that says what the max wattage this cooler can handle, but for the physical size 65 watts should be no problem. Watching 1080p youtube pushes the CPU temps into the high 60's. At that temp the fan is going at about 2700 RPM, and is quite loud, loud enough to hear over whatever I'm watching. The only reason I can think of for the cooler not being able to keep temps down are either the base not covering the whole heat spreader, or it just can't handle the heat this old processor produces. So, I'm going to have to find a better low profile cooler that can be silent and keep my processor cool. Maybe one with heatpipes. Or a larger fan.

Excellent Quality - With One Exception

Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System
Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1 CH Home Theater Speaker System

Pros: Very good sound quality for both movies and music. Mids and highs sound nice. Lows aren't that great, but have punch. Nice small speakers, very unobtrusive.

Cons: The sub washes out occasionally. Usually happens when you have a very low, long note and the volume is cranked. Irritating but not worth an egg.

Overall Review: I've been using these as my main sound system for my TV and multimedia computer for the last FOUR years now. Speakers are still going strong. In fact, I think they have 'broken in' over the years, as they sound better then when they were new. They sound 'fuller'. I'm disappointed by the sub washing out whenever it does it, but it's so infrequent it isn't worth buying a better one. Been using a Yamaha RX-V565 with these since day one and couldn't be happier.

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Lots of space, quick, quiet. This is my first Samsung drive, and so far it's a good experience.

Cons: None. Takes a very long time to do a full format of 1,863.01GB, but that's expected.

Overall Review: As long as I don't have any problems within the next month or so, I plan on getting at least one more of these. Eventually I'd like to get three more, but hard drive prices are still too high.

Awesome

ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler

Pros: I first bought one of these for my Athlon64 4000+, and it kept it at mid to low 20's at idle, and never more than 40 under extreme load. I then put it on an Opteron 185, and it keeps it at mid 30's idle and never more than 50 under stress. I just bought another to put back on my old 4000+ in a new system. Fan is very quiet and moves decent air.

Cons: Kind of big. Requires a considerable force to install, be careful.

Overall Review: Don't use the thermal grease that is applied to it. Invest in Arctic Silver 5 or Arctic Silver Ceramique. The plastic rings around the fan are very delicate, I broke one. Be careful there too.

Very Good Cooler

ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE64 92mm CPU Cooler

Pros: Keeps Athlon 64 4000+ at between 25C and 30C idle and never more than 50C.

Cons: One part of the plastic ring surrounding the fan broke, but it wasn't a big deal. Kind of hard to install, but if you loosen the screw it installs without a problem.

Overall Review: Pretty darn good cooler, keeps my proc nice and cool.

Good Overall Performer

AMD Athlon 64 4000+ - Athlon 64 San Diego Single-Core 2.4 GHz Socket 939 89W Processor - ADA4000DKA5CF
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ - Athlon 64 San Diego Single-Core 2.4 GHz Socket 939 89W Processor - ADA4000DKA5CF

Pros: Very good overall performance. Moderate overclocking possibility. Can play modern games at pretty high quality. Runs cool with proper cooling device.

Cons: Behind the technology curve now. Thats where I am all the time, though, so it's not really that big of a con.

Overall Review: Good upgrade from Athlon XP system. Buy a good cooler and this proc will idle between 25C and 30C, and never go higher than 50C.
