CTX670
Pros: Great card, problem free. Runs quiet and fast.
Cons: Software deficient., not worth an egg off though as that's not what was for sale.
Overall Review: I tried as many have, to get a GTX680, good thing because for a 2-3% loss I paid a full $240.00 less for the GTX670 -I call that bang for buck. It was just as hard to get a GTX670, just lucked in, however I would have preferred the MSI for the afterburner software. Bought system parts at the Egg: 3820 @ 4.5 ASUS Sabertooth 2011 GTX670 32G G.Skill -Low profile DDR Windows 7 retail 64bit -Already on hand ASUS Blu Ray Burner Pioneer Blu Ray Burner-On hand already ASUS DVD Burner Crucial 300 -128G SSD -Primary [loaded with 32G to spare] WD 1TB SATA 6 WD 2TB SATA 3 -On hand already WD 1TB SATA 3 -On hand already CoolerMaster 932 Blue (Fan lights) case -Excellent case. Take your choice on MODEL and good luck with support
Pros: The item would have had two eggs but the price was unbeatable -Black Friday deal. However it's really going to cost in upgrades, due to misinformation regards the M.2 chip. LCD is bright and a full gamma color experience. Fast boot (caveat later) keyboard is a pleasure blue/green/orange and very good tactile feel to the keys. Laptop does feel very soild. Switching GPU's is a real bonus.
Cons: This was the single worst experience trying to find upgrade parts, even trying to figure out the multiple model references to this one unit.GT72 Dominator Pro G-1252, GT72 Dominator Pro G034 / GT72 6QE Dominator Pro G. The latter is actually what the laptop is. This all begs why MSI would use THREE different model numbers ? Upgraded immediately to 32G DDR4 and that was well worth doing -Gskill $91. Support stated the Warranty sticker removal did not apply to North American bought laptops. Also added a Blu ray burner (Here on the egg) for $68 -Had trouble getting support to provide size base (12.7 or 9.5) after a hold it was 9.5 (for those needing that upgrade.) because you won't find that information anywhere. Removing the screw did not free up the DVD already in place -Deal with that later. The M.2 is a substandard chip,, it's a Kingston 497G RBU-SNS8152S3512GG2, Had me believing this was a Samsung 950 Pro 512G. The bevel touches the screen in several places. . Do NOT install from the install DVD, it's badly scripted and is guaranteed to provide corruption errors, [SCM ] -Still have to deal with that. Upload from either MSI or/ directly from the device manager files -specifically blue tooth/network drivers by right clicking/properties and drivers "update driver." That will obtain WIFI connection. . I have not received an answer regards changing out the battery, there is a 2nd back plate & I'm not sure what springs loose when that is removed to access more than the DDR/SSD & HD. The HD is loose on a tray, but that's an easy fix. .DO NOT attempt to register the product until you have the laptop on hand, I did & found it was a witch hunt to get to anything on the MSI site because both were not done at the same time. I was trying to get technical data to upgrade on the front end.
Overall Review: Don't care for WIN 10 and will be upgrading to a Samsung 950 Pro M.2 chip soon [Have on hand] and Debian dual boot WIN 7 Pro. Technical support could be better, regards technical data information, the response received for removing the screw did not release the DVD writer from the laptop bay resulted in "You don't need optical drivers." Overall, would I do it again -YES, with these hints on the front end it was worth it, though I'm left sorting through which documents actually apply to this particular model, don't expect a manual specific to this model. MSI needs to get it's USA support together, starting with the install disk and the appropriate manual. Newegg has not let me down, so that's the upside.
500G drive
Pros: This has been a revolving drive, for a 10 year old WIN 64 Pro system - only replacement needed. Bearings where a little noisy old old drive. This was a new drive, really cheap.
Cons: Old physical disk
Overall Review: Can't buy drives for this price and get.10 years of computing. Always back up .
correction
Pros: Works
Cons: None
Overall Review: CORRECTION: setup and found both of the Male USB plugs fit directly into the PS4 Female USB ports. Small flat landscape, perfect.
Intel Softeware package.
Pros: WorldOfTanks, might work for those interested in a non free product, based on how one uses the game, Steam installations are trouble free.
Cons: WorldOfTanks -For me was somewhat invasive to the OS, however my concern was not the product but end users, opens ports without due diligence and an effort was made to secure it further after dialogue, however, I'm not inclined to use it on a system using passwords for business at all. The Intel suite was a complete failure, good luck, was unable to register or use the product and it is based on code that is more than four years old...Go figure.
Overall Review: Stream products are satisfactory, WorldOfTanks is operable but rather system invasive. The Intel pack crashed out on C++ and is a rather poor example of an intro to a software attempt, was unable to register the product at all, I was not inclined ton attempt a recovery or follow up based on "Apple" requirements. Overall-Free for a $200.00 product is stretching the realm of reasonable, but that's my take, your mileage may differ based on the level of concern. Overall my assumption is a $50.00 value at best, regardless of the reasons I WON'T use it. It's a shot in the dark package, of little real value.
U3011
Pros: This is a real LCD monitor of huge proportions! Colour is excellent out of the box, sharp and crisp. No dead pixels. *Wow* Still comes to mind, max settings are impressive. I have elected to use 125% sizing for easier viewing; from the Display panel.
Cons: Have not had time to 'Play' with settings yet, however there is light bleed from all sides. Slowed my system down a tad, thought installing the driver would help, but no. Perhaps it's not a fair comment coming from two LG S-IPS 24" LCD's, that cost $650.00 a piece. Faster refresh on the 'Old' LCD's.
Overall Review: This completes the new build. I have supported DELL PC's and laptops in a business environment since around 2000; this is the first DELL product I have ever bought. 3820 @ 4.5 ASUS Sabertooth 2011 GTX670 32G G.Skill -Low profile DDR PCPower&Cooling 950W PSU Windows 7 retail 64bit -Already on hand ASUS Blu Ray Burner Pioneer Blu Ray Burner-On hand already ASUS DVD Burner Crucial 300 -128G SSD -Primary [loaded with 32G to spare] WD 1TB SATA 6 WD 2TB SATA 3 -On hand already WD 1TB SATA 3 -On hand already CoolerMaster 932 Blue (Fan lights) case -Excellent case.
