1 out of 5 eggs Last 2 were no good 02/03/2014

This review is from: NEW 8 Channel 960H 8CH H.264 P2P Network HDMI Security Surveillance CCTV DVR

Pros: The first 2 I ordered work fine.

Cons: I have one of these which I reviewed below and I have sold one other to a client and they both work fine. I have sense bought 2 others (one at a time) for a different client and they both failed right out of the box. They both would randomly reboot without any input from me and or lose video. I won't be trying again as something is wrong with the ones they are sending out now. Too bad as the ones that I have that work are really great for the price.

Other Thoughts: I sent an email to their tech support about a week ago regarding the last 2 not working but have not received a reply. The only way I would give them another chance is if they sent me a free one as I have spent too much shipping the other 2 back for refunds.

Pros: The DVR has all the basic features that I have seen on other brands and models plus a few extras like the ability to remove the time and date stamp from the video when viewing. Sometimes it blocks the area you want to see.

The interface when either viewed from a monitor connected directly to it or via Internet Explorer are almost identical to what I have seen on some of the mid range DVR’s made by QVIS so if you are familiar with those it will be an advantage during set up.

I have it connected to 4 Sony cameras that I bought with my previous DVR kit (it died) and this works with them just fine and it was easy for me to set up as I have done it many times before. If you are not experienced setting one of these up you will be looking for help as the manual is not very good and is in broken English and hard to follow in some areas.

I’m not sure if you can get tech support from the seller (iSecurity101) or not but I did have a question and they responded in about 12 hours. That said if you need help there are forums where people are more than happy to help.

A nice wireless mouse (no batteries), the power supply/adapter and a mini cd with some viewing programs and the manual (this is the H series on the manual list) are included. I have not used any of the included software so I can’t comment on it but it is on the CD if you think you need it. I get by just fine usually logging in via IE over the network if I need to do something but the included CMS program is probably the one you will want to try.

Remote viewing works well using IE and on my Android based phone using MeyePro. I set up DDNS via and my router so I don’t have to worry about a changing IP address.

It ships from Hong Kong and was here in only 6 days which was a nice surprise.

Cons: Like I said the manual which is on an included mini CD and linked in the product description is not adequate if you don’t have some experience.

A remote control is not included but I did send an email the iSecurity101 and they informed me I could get one for about $8. I’m not as I rarely used the remote with my previous DVR but it’s nice to know it’s available.

I did not try the one-touch online function (icloud) with the vMEeyecloud app as the reviews were pretty bad in the app store. It seems it only works about half the time according to the reviews but you can get by without it and still see the cameras remotely.

Other Thoughts: It's a nice DVR with a lot of features and the price is right. If it lasts 3 or 4 years it will have been worth every penny but only time will tell. My last DVR of which I had 2 worked fine but neither of them lasted more than a year.
