Pros: Was easy to setup with 2x 2TB hitachi Deskstar drives for a mirrored back up system. It is working very well for me as a back up system. It does that well and more.

Cons: It took a bit of reading to verify to my understanding that the default way this gets setup when you have 2 drives in it is actually a mirrored backup. I don't know why these things have to cost as much as a PC when you want to get a good one. Maybe its because it does have some good processing power and built in software capabilities which makes setting things up easy.

Overall Review: I choose the 2TB Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K3000 because the expert reviews I read said they were well built. So far they are working fine. I am very satisfied with this system.

Pros: I bought two of these for a mirrored drive backup using a Synology DS712. Installed them and so far both are working fine. You can find negative reviews on every hard drive out there. So a labored through a number of reviews. I bought these because the expert reviews I found indicated they were well built a suitable for a back up system. If they break early I will try to remember to post another review.

Cons: So far the only con would be that the expert reviews I found indicated they are a slower than other drives. They are fast enough for my backup purposes.

Overall Review: If you want reliability in your back ups get yourself a mirrored backup system.
