The "Hot Hatchback" of Graphics Cards
Pros: -Build quality is superb, the backplate is a nice added touch to this top of the line card. -Card actually runs a little faster than rated speed. My tuning software show'd this card actually ran at just over 1450mhz right out of the box. -Stable overclock held at over 1555 for hours of gaming. Not really necessary but it's always nice to know it's got some breathing room. -SILENT at low temp, hardly audible even under full load. Holds constant at 59-63 degrees during 1080p gaming. -Reputable manufacturer with pretty decent 3 year warranty. This is my first EVGA card, but it seems well made. I've owned ASUS and XFX branded Nvidia products...
Cons: -Yes, it only has 2gb vRAM and the bus is only 128bits wide. Whatever, it maxes out 95% of what I throw at it now, but a little uncertain about it's future obsolescence.. -Had a driver issue that was quickly resolved by reinstalling Nvidia's newest software.
Overall Review: Excellent build quality and performance at a reasonable price. I would compare this card to a Subaru WRX or VW Golf GTI. Sure, there ARE faster cards that will devour this one right off the line, but they also cost at least 50% more. For the price point this is probably the best card available on the market right now.
Stock cooler was better
Pros: Ran quieter than the tiny, loud, irritating stock AMD fan.
Cons: What's the point of a quieter fan if it can't keep anything cool? Idle temps on my FX - 4200 were good in the low 30 degree Celsius range but under load it ran to nearly 80 degrees before I shut it down! Wow, that's bad...
Overall Review: Max TDP seems to be 70 watts for this cooler, my CPU is 125 watts. Newegg does not inform you about this in the specs...
Ageing Gracefully
Pros: Back in the day this was the best. It's still very good. Ran it against Arctic MX-2 and it ran 1-2 degrees cooler right away, and 4-5 degrees cooler after it had time to "set in".
Cons: Set in period that everyone talks about, it exists.
Good, but needs modification!
Pros: I bought it for much less, on black friday deals week... It was an OK deal at that price, not for more. Boots fast, runs fast, CPU is half decent if not surprisingly quick considering it's a lower end quad core with high power needs. Motherboard is solid. Case is pretty well built, has room for upgrades and the case fan is cool looking. Big hard drive 1tb 4gb ram is enough for now, easy enough upgrade.
Cons: Power Supply is a joke, I replaced that right away with a 600w unit. Graphics card is another joke for a "gaming" rig. It's not even close to okay for gaming. I replaced this with a nvidia 650 gtx, runs great now. THIS IS THE BIG ONE: About 2 months into owning it I realized one of the fans was running really fast and loud after just a few minutes of gaming. I thought it was my graphics card... it was not. Upon inspection, it turns out the pathetic little CPU fan was reeling up to 6,000 rpm to try and keep this very warm cpu cool. Temps are hitting 60-70 degrees Celsius regularly. I ordered a better cooling unit and new thermal paste right away.
Overall Review: Seems like they cheaped out in a lot of areas. It's a reasonable buy, but be ready to swap out many parts for better ones if you plan on using this for a long time as a reliable rig. ESPECIALLY THE CPU FAN!!
Pros: Very good monitor. I bought it on cybermonday for a great price, can't complain. Very bright when you want it to be, looks good at low brightness to if your eyes are getting tired. Movies and games look great.
Cons: It's a bit wobbly on the high stand it comes with, but not a big deal.
Overall Review: Very sleek
