Blazing Fast
Pros: I've been burned by other "USB 3" readers in the past, so I didn't have high hopes with this one. My main reason for getting this model was the depth of the Compact Flash slot - I've bent more then a few pins in the past on other readers. After installing, I ran a few image file copies off of my UDMA 7 Compact Flash card and averaged a sustained 125MB per second transfer rate.
Cons: It's difficult to get the CF card to align correctly to slide in.
Dead within Days
Pros: Good price, typically reliable.
Cons: I ordered 3. One died within a day and another shortly thereafter. I RMA'd the first one through Newegg, and its replacement was Dead On Arrival (terrible grinding noise before it stopped spinning period). The other of the initial failed pair had to be RMA'd with Western Digital because it was on day 32 of ownership (I didn't get to try them out immediately after purchasing, unfortunately).
Overall Review: I've never had a problem ordering drives through Newegg before, but this has me seriously reconsidering. Are they just not handling these things with sufficient care?
Great fan, nice and quiet
Pros: Quiet Does the job
Cons: None
Did not work
Pros: None
Cons: Didn't detect all of my CF cards were even inserted. With those that it did detect, no data could be transferred and Windows continued reporting disk warnings: "The IO operation at logical block address b0ca for Disk 5 was retried."
Another one bites the dust
Pros: N/A
Cons: I reviewed these a week ago, and since then another one has failed. That makes me 0/4 for these drives from Newegg.
Overall Review: Now that I am 2 weeks out of Newegg warranty, I have to go through Western Digital for replacement and will receive re-certified drives. This has been my first experience with the Blue drives, never again. Of note, when I RMAd one to Western Digital, they sent me a Black drive as a replacement.
