Pros: i7, 16GB RAM, TB HD and nice mid range video card. THis computer was purchased to replace on older Pentium 1.x Ghz. It pretty fast and has a decent user experience score.
Cons: When I purchased this the title said Windows 7 and it had Windows 7 in the tech specs but it has since been changed so the title says Windows 8 in the title.
Other Thoughts: After getting the computer and discovering it was in fact Windows 8 I contacted New Egg and explained to them it was not what I thought it was. I also explained that I liked the computer and wanted it to have the Windows 7 that was advertised . The first 2 calls to New Egg resulted in "We will look into it" solutions. I called a third time and was met with someone that seemed to really want to help. I wound up getting a solution to my problem but, I was told that because the computer would not be like it was when they shipped it (even though it would now be as advertised) they would not provide any support for it. If your interested in why the review before mine says it's windows 8 and I purchased it anyway. I typically do not look at only 1 review as just one is generally not helpful. In this case I probably should have but you would think the computer would be advertised right as well.
Over all the computer is great with no issues as ong as it has Windows 7 on it :)
Pros: The router does look nice. It has wireless N and Gigabit ports as well as a USB port that can be used for storage or as a print server. It has detachable antennas. This is generally better over all for good signals. You can upgrade to bigger antennas for better over all coverage. The firmware that comes with is not too bad, there are several features in it that are not in other routers unless up update their firmware to a third party. The stock firmware gives me a consistent 150meg on my Asus g75 so that is good enough for me. For most internet setups it can be plug and play right out of the box.
Cons: All of the routers I have had (3 so far) exhibit the same wireless radio issues. The radio works great for a few weeks then it just stop. The only reliable fix is to reboot the router. I guess this is an issue they never figured out how to fix or one that they fixed in version 2? For a lot of the setting you have to reboot the router which waists time considering the old 54GL didn't do that and no version of dd-wrt makes you do that.
They claim that dd-wrt will work on this router but on the first one I have the radio issue still existed under dd-wrt. Starting around verion 1.8 or serial number starting with 12 they changed the boot loader to disable the WAN port for third party firmwares. There is a fix for this but I am not sure why they did it in the first place. The newest firmware from dd-wrt will not let my Asus G75 connect in N-only but it will connect in n-g mode at 65 mbps which is technically N. As stated above with the stock firmware I can get 150 mbps on my G75 so it's not the router as far as that goes. Over all I would say that dd-wrt is largly incompatible with this router and it almost seems as though TP-Link made it that way on purpose.
Other Thoughts: I still use this router because I want the gigabit ports otherwise, i would just drop it and move on. I have been looking at other options but it really seems as though there is just not a good Wireless N router out there. I am so spoiled with the 54GL that it's hard for anything else to compare.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It is a lenovo and it DOES have windows 7 on it. Since it's a Lenovo is better suited to business use which part of the reason I was getting it.
Cons: The description of this thing is somewhat mis-leading as it IS a technical refurb BUT it is NOT refurbed by Lenovo. A local computer shop purchased this from a corporate lease and then stuck MS Refurb windows 7 on it (which is basically 7 Pro OEM). New Egg really dropped the ball on this one allowing people to sell stuff like this. This is better suited to auction sites than a computer super store like new egg. Mine came with someones hair in the keyboard, Feet on the bottom of it were missing, the pencil eraser was dirty and there was dirt all around the keyboard and screen edge. It appears to me the only refurbing this computer has had was loading Windows 7 on it.
Other Thoughts: I just feel like I was misled as to the condition of this laptop and there is a very good chance I will return it.READ FULL REVIEW
