LG W2230S Glossy Black 21.5" 5ms 1080P KickStand Widescreen LCD Monitor
LG W2230S Glossy Black 21.5" 5ms 1080P KickStand Widescreen LCD Monitor

Pros: 1. I bought it for $100 from newegg as a Black Friday special, so the price was good for the pixel density. 2. The kickstand lets me place the monitor on my desk and keep it at a 10 degree incline, which is ergonomically ideal. Along with this the large size of the screen lets me work further away from the screen and maintain an ergonomically better position. 3. The height of the monitor is only approx 12in, so it doesn't take up much space.

Cons: 1. As compared to the screen on my Macbook, it is noticeably more blurry from a equal distance. However, when I increase the size of my windows and sit further away, it hardly becomes noticable. Taking a point off for this blurriness, as I haven't figured out a way to fix it via software.

Overall Review: With this monitor I upgraded my Macbook to an 'iMac' at the cost of $150 (keyboard + monitor), and gained a lot of screen real-estate. :)

MSI GE Series - 15.6" NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M - Intel Core i7-4700HQ - 8GB Memory - - Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - (GE60 Apache Pro-003 )

Pros: This is a 5* laptop that has some problems that can potentially be resolved (see cons). The display is sharp. Though text is noticably blurry at small font sizes. The hardware specs are hard to beat. I was in the market for something I can play on and a laptop. My options were a do-it all laptop or a desktop+ a cheap laptop. This offers specs similar to a $600 desktop and is much nicer than a $600 laptop would be. +1 Egg I will update this section after I get to test the computer using MATLAB and some games.

Cons: Came with 8GB of RAM as opposed to 12GB as described. Sticker on the computer says it's 8GB, so I believe Newegg is at fault. I will contact Newegg about this. -1 Egg if not resolved. Bloatware. MSI, Norton, and Intel pop ups are just distracting. Mouse spontaneously turns into a "wait" cursor as I'm typing this review and have no other applications open. Windows 8. For instance you have to be online and create a microsoft account in order to log in and first use your PC. Trackpad. Keeps bringing up the start menu while I'm typing. When I mistakenly type a key it takes me to the start screen. Other than that tracking is reasonable, and it has two-finger scroll. Keyboard. Occasionally misses key presses. This is especially bad with the space bar. Right shift is small, as a result when I use it I press the UP arrow instead. Keyboard and trackpad are irrelevant when used with external accessories, but this is a laptop so it should have usable navigation itself.

Overall Review: 3* for now. I will update depending on how Newegg handles the RAM situation. I will also attempt to find good settings for the trackpad/bloatware/windows 8 situation. If everything is resolved I will change the review back to the 5* that this laptop deserves.
