Pros: Fast and high capacity
Cons: One stick went bad after 2 months of use. Programs and games started to randomly close with no error. Failed stress tests. Started to get random BSOD's every few hours.
Other Thoughts: Couldn't get it to run at full speed, though there are many variables at play so cannot blame the memory itself. I ended up running it at 3000mhz which was the highest stable speed for my setup.
I decided to swap in my old memory and all the issues went away.
Pros: Overclocks better than my Haswell, it is about 15-20% faster clock for clock than a 4770k and also produces less heat.
Cons: availability at launch
Other Thoughts: If you want to get the maximum out of this processor make sure you get some pretty fast ram, I would say atleast DDR2800. In my case I tested with XMP off (2133mhz)then turned it on (3000mhz 15-17-17-35) there was about an additional 5-10% performance gain.
I haven't had a lot of time to overclock my chip yet, but I just bumped it up to 4.7ghz at stock voltage and had no trouble booting to windows, I'll definitely do further testing when I get back home. My haswell only hit 4.6ghz and that was with a lot of tuning.
I may have gotten one of the better chips out there though.
Pros: Matches my Titan Black although I can't see it under my NH-D14.
Other Thoughts: Not much to say about the memory other than I have had no issues with it, it's very stable, never had issues with it, works fine paired with my MSI MPOWER Z87.
I do wish I bought faster memory, but that's my issue and probably wouldn't notice a difference anyways.
