Great Upgrade!
Pros: This was a gift for my sister who had a DMC-TZ3 that was showing its age. This camera was a great upgrade as its in the same Lumix line and has familiar functions and controls. The zoom is great to have as well as the mobile phone remote control feature! The time between shots is nearly nothing and the time from power on to your first shot is incredibly short.
Cons: Short battery life, so I just got the extended batteries with it.
Worthless waste of money
Pros: Doesn't spontaneously catch fire?
Cons: I was eager to get this as my system is under my desk. I immediately connected it to the StarTech USB3SEXTAA6 6 ft. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 cable I got and then connected it to one of the USB 3 ports on my system. At first, the device lit up and seemed to be fine. It was immediately recognized and installed by Windows. I then tried to use it by connecting a USB flash drive. The drive was detected and usable for about 3 seconds before it was disconnected and the lights on the hub were hardly lit. Okay, so it seems this thing can't even handle a single usb stick. I tried all four ports to make sure it wasn't just one bad port. Once I tried the topmost port, the plastic in it came out with the drive... I tried to move the device to another USB3 port with the exact same results.
Overall Review: I should have just gone with a cheapo USB hub, at least then I would've gotten what I paid for.
Pros: Great user interface, Several great features, (when working), great speed!
Cons: Does not work well with Charter internet. Asus routers have a non-standard DHCP request process. Unfortunately, this causes Charters systems to block the modem / router whenever it decides it wants to re-request dhcp. Thus, if you have Charter, don't get this router unless you enjoy the idea of restarting your network hardware multiple times a day.
Overall Review: I've already worked with both ASUS and Charter tech supports and even sent the router back to be 'repaired' twice with no success.
Loud and fickle
Pros: The cage is very well constructed. Although its aluminum, it felt solid with absolutely no flex or warping. The trayless loading system was better than I thought it would be (when it works).
Cons: I purchased and installed 2 cages. The first time I booted up, it only recognized 4 of my 8 drives. I reseated the drives that weren't showing up and eventually all but 2 of them came up. Finally, I replaced their cheap SATA cables with some of my good ones and got all drives recognized. Now I was able to boot into Windows; however, once I was in Windows, the system performed a hard shut down. I restarted and tried again with the same result. I restarted in safe mode with the same crash and finally just left the system sitting in the bios for about 3 minutes before it crashed again. During all of this time, I was also greeted with a fan hum akin to a moderate 2u server; needless to say, all of the reviews talking about fan noise are dead on. I've since removed the cages and am back to a running system. RMA submitted and the cages will be on their way back to Newegg shortly.
Meh...
Pros: Device has the amount of space indicated and has a decent transfer rate using USB 2.0
Cons: The slide mech of the drive doesn't actually lock. When you extend the connector you can feel/hear a click, but any pressure on the connector and it pops right back in. I've got a few Sandisk drives with the same concept that don't slide in until you press the slider.
Overall Review: LED light is extremely dim; you'll have to cover it with your hand to see if the drive is active.
Dying already?
Pros: Lots of space and a noticed improvement of speed...
Cons: Very Loud... Especially when its seeking...
Delayed shipping of the wrong product.
Took 2 business days before order shipped. When I got the hard drives and checked their warranty (item page claimed a 5 year warranty), WD showed that the warranty had been expired since 2014.
