Half Awesome

Hanns·G HZ251HPB Black 25" 2ms X-Celerate OD 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 X-Contrast 15,000:1 DCR (800:1 typical) Built-in Speakers

Pros: I purchased two of these with my 2010 christmas bonus. They've served me very adequately in a dual monitor setup. I'm not a visual aficionado, but the colors look nice, and I've never had any problems with video or anything. Considering the price, I've been extremely pleased with their performance over the last year.

Cons: Two cons, one minor, one major enough to drop the review from 5 stars down to 3. First, as a minor critique, the monitors become very dark when viewed from a high or low angle. I know this is commonplace with LCD monitors, but it seems particularly pronounced on these monitors. However, these are the first LCD monitors I've actually owned, so I could simply be unaware of what is typical. My major complaint is that one of my monitors is starting to have serious display issues after only a year. In the top right hand corner there is a dark red spot which seems to be growing in size. It's only about a centimeter of dark color radiating from the corner at the moment, but it's not going away. I've noticed one other small spot which seems to be doing this as well, along the top edge. Additionally, the top center of the monitor seems to have developed a massive cluster of dead pixels, but only when viewed from certain angles or on certain colors. Sometimes blue, sometimes yellow.

Overall Review: I have not yet contacted customer support to see if the warranty will cover this. I need to find my warranty first, but I only have 2-3 weeks left. If I'm particularly impressed or disappointed with their service on this, I will report back.

Would be great if it was reliable.

Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse
Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse

Pros: Just about everything about this mouse is great. Good shape, good button layout, feels good to use. In every respect save reliability, this is probably the best mouse I've ever used.

Cons: The mouse randomly cuts out or stutters while in use. At first I thought it might be an issue with the surface I was using it on, or maybe I was letting the battery get too low. But the problem persists even when I've confirmed the thing is fully charged, and no matter what surface I use it on. Then I thought it might be a driver problem, and tried a couple different ways to solve that, but the problem persists. If you search for the product's name along with the word "Stutters," there's an 11 page thread on Logitech's official forums where many people have expressed having similar issues, and aside from a boilerplate "try turning it off and back on again" style response from Logitech, there's no help for it. If you buy this, make sure you check out the return policy, and be ready to send it back.

Overall Review: On a purely personal note, this whole mess has been depressing. I'm not a rich man, and splurging on a fancy mouse was a real treat for me. It's hard to see this much money go to waste on a piece of junk.

Great sound, shoddy construction

TRITTON TRIAX-180 Stereo Analog RCA x 2 or 3.5mm stereo Connector Circumaural AX 180 Universal Gaming Headset
TRITTON TRIAX-180 Stereo Analog RCA x 2 or 3.5mm stereo Connector Circumaural AX 180 Universal Gaming Headset

Pros: I have never been happier with the comfort, features, and sound quality of headphones. This blows away pretty much anything I've ever been able to find in any store on all counts. Everything from the ample size of the circumaural phones, to the detachable microphone, to the extra long cord.

Cons: I've owned two of these headsets, and both of them have had the plastic body break after just a few months. I thought, when paying $90 for a pair of headphones, that I would receive a product which could withstand careful handling, and several hours of use each day. Yet here I am, using a headband to hold them to my head, with one of the ear pieces hanging by nothing but the electric wire.

Overall Review: I love these headphones. But having lost two of them in such a short time, I simply can't justify spending this much money on the same thing all over again.
