Good Monitor, Bad Speakers

ASUS 19" (Actaul size 18.5") TN LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI VS197T-P
ASUS 19" (Actaul size 18.5") TN LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI VS197T-P

Pros: Nice crisp pictures and vivid colors. The one button press to change between various pre-set monitor settings is nice and easy.

Cons: If you want a monitor with built in speakers, you may want to consider a different one. I bought this monitor so that I could save some room by having the speakers and monitor combined. Despite the fact that apparently the speakers are tied into the monitors power supply (they only work when the monitor is turned on) they are not very loud and even when their volume is turned up to the max (as well as having the computers and programs volume turned up to the max) they are still easily drowned out by background noises such as TVs in other rooms, traffic outside the home, or even loud computer fans. It doesn't help that the speakers are rear mounted and rear facing, thus the sound is being projected away from the user. Controls are also counter intuitive. You have to press one button first before adjusting the volume, and it's easy to hit the wrong button by accident (thus you could end up in the menu screen or adjusting the brightness instead). On top of that the menu screen is confusing and likewise counter intuitive. Half the time you might think pressing one button will do something, and instead it does the opposite.

Overall Review: Like many newer LCD monitors the screen being wider than it is tall can throw off expectations in regards to how big the monitor really is with people (like me) who are use to getting a monitor bundled with a computer instead of buying a stand alone monitor like this. As such it wasn't as big as I expected, but that's entirely my fault. Because of this I suggest that buyers review all the specs to make sure that they know the full dimensions of a monitor. Aside from that, and the issues with the monitors controls and speakers, it still is a good monitor if you want to use it in full screen mode for watching videos or playing games.

Does what I needed it to do

SYBA SY-CAB20197 Black USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Cable
SYBA SY-CAB20197 Black USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Cable

Pros: If you're looking for a basic cable to transfer data directly between a device with a USB-C connector(i.e. like a Nexus 5x) and a PC, this works.

Cons: None that I dealt with. But people who do not do their research regarding this cable might have issues (see my additional comments).

Overall Review: If you have a device like a Nexus 5X with its 'Rapid Charging' option, this cable on its own will not allow for said 'Rapid Charging', especially if you plan on trying to use this with some sort of older USB-A wall or car charger. I knew that going in, hence why I'm not subtracting an egg for it. But it's something that people who do not know about how the 'Rapid Charging' on the 5X (and similar devices) work, should know if they're looking at this cable.

Good as Gold

Pros: FIts my needs better than perfect.

Cons: I had to pay money for this awesomeness?

TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It works. Faster than the HD on my 5 year old computer.

Cons: No issues so far, but I haven't been using this for any major storage so far. Just a boot disk, while I store stuff on my external HD (mainly due to the reports of a high failure rate on this HD). Odds are I should of bought a small HD (or an SSD) but this came as part of a bundle.

Overall Review: With all the reports of failures of the HD in other reviews, I remain cautious about how well this HD will last in the long run. With that said it has worked well so far.

PowerColor Go! Green Radeon HD 6570 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card AX6570 1GBK3-HEV2
PowerColor Go! Green Radeon HD 6570 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card AX6570 1GBK3-HEV2

Pros: Does what I need it to do and then some. A good card if you are just a casual gamer and/or need a card for an HDMI jack.

Cons: Instructions are very misleading. In fact, it came with the instructions for a different card all together (a double wide card that had to be connected to the power supply instead of the simple just plug in the slot card that it is). Owners manuals on the installation CD are for several other cards made by this company, but not for this card, but the CD does have the appropriate drivers. Also, the installation instructions really could use being run through spell check, since I did notice a couple of spelling errors as well. All that is not worth having an egg taken away in my opinion, but are definitely things to keep in mind if you have never had to instal a graphics card before and need proper instructions to go by.

Overall Review: When I received a rebate it was in the form of a paper check and not a rebate card, which is a bit different in this day and age. Just something people may want to keep in mind if they go after this card while it has a rebate attached to it.
