Nice mobo with options

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Good motherboard with a nice group of options. Haven't OC'd my q6600, but the build went well. All connections were well marked and the manual explains things pretty clearly.

Cons: a little pricey, but the rebate helps. Not a full blown overclocking tweakers dream, but more than enough options to do what I want with the CPU/memory.

Overall Review: Can't wait to OC this thing.....

Pretty good unit

Lenovo Desktop PC IdeaCentre Q180 (31102NU) Intel Atom D2700 2GB DDR3 320GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 6450A Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Pros: Compact unit, comes with vesa mount for back of monitor and has DVD burner built in. Has multiple configurations for video output, stand and mini keyboard remote. Decent amount of usb slots and works pretty good.

Cons: Not quite as HD capable as people will want, slower 5400 rpm drive.

Overall Review: This was bought as a replacement pc for my oldest son who was pretty rough on his 5 yr old previous pc. Since it was meant to be a school use pc, it does the job nicely. He is able to watch netflix, stream pandora and get research and homework done on it. The netflix is SD, and I did have it briefly hooked up to my 42" HD tv, but it didn't see to handle the rendering for the HD signal very well. I've see some folks have tweaked the settings but I never intended the use to be an HTPC with HD capabilities. If that is what you want, then you will need to spend a little more, or wait a little longer.

SLACR

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600

Pros: Good chipset, quadcore for under 200, one of the best overclocking chips to get at the moment (for quad that is). If your thinking about getting one, get one before they run out since the new Intel I7 architecture is out.

Cons: wasn't free

Overall Review: Haven't OC'd this yet, but bought 2 of them and both were SLACR chips. One for my media server and other for a friends media server.

not a bad case for the money

Rosewill R5717-P BK 120mm Fan ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, with mesh air filters, adjustable vents & Tool-Free kits
Rosewill R5717-P BK 120mm Fan ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, with mesh air filters, adjustable vents & Tool-Free kits

Pros: lots of space, toolless harddrive cage, 5hdd slots, 4 dvd slots, sturdy construction, panels on both sides, decent air flow design if you don't plan on using an aftermarket heatsink fan. Room for three or four more fans.

Cons: only con I can think of is the toolless DVD setup will work if you take the plastic front off, otherwise you can just screw it in (makes for a sturdier optical drive anyhow). Only one 120mm fan in the back.

Overall Review: decent case. Paired this with a Asus P5Q pro, q6600, 4gb 1066, Arctic freezer7 hsf, 2-1TB WD caviar, 1 Raptor150gb, BluRay Rom, ATI4670. Had to remove the side intake air duct for the heatsink fan, but was a good case that fit everything I had. Had to thread the power led/front switch back through to reach my mobo, but that is only with this one (and depending on where your mobo will have them.

Great dual-core chip

AMD Opteron 165 - Opteron Denmark Dual-Core 1.8 GHz Socket 939 110W Processor - OSA165CDBOX
AMD Opteron 165 - Opteron Denmark Dual-Core 1.8 GHz Socket 939 110W Processor - OSA165CDBOX

Pros: best dual core choice if you dont mind overclocking, but with chips like this, its easy as sin! Stock heatsink is easily worth xx$ similiar to XP-90, only wish they would sell them on the rest of their AMD64 line. 1mb L2 cache on EACH processor, so 2mb total L2 cache.

Cons: i had to pay for it. but still TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Overall Review: I picked up a CCBWE 0551 VPMW, and there weren't too many overclockers with those chips yet. I figured with people easily hitting 30-40% overclocks, I would be happy with 2.4Ghz. I'm at 2.6 now on stock cooling (great heatsink for a boxed CPU) and can hang with a stock FX-60, and didn't have to pay the extra 700 bones! The chip is hitting 2.6 at 1.425 volts, 21c idle, and 42c full load, thats dual Prime95!!! You can't ask for a better processor to overclock!!!

also had issues with agp

MSI K8MM-V 754 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI K8MM-V 754 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Nice system, mine came with everything needed to hook up either ATA or IDE drives, decent manual and plenty of room on the board between components (for a microatx of course).

Cons: Had major issues running my 6600gt in it. plenty of power from my psu (450w), and it would work while gaming. Exiting tho', would reboot to the BSOD or hardboot altoghether. When I ran my old MX440 video card, no problems whatsoever (except the resolution was much lower).

Overall Review: If you need a micro atx board for basic to moderate use, then this is a great board. But for 3d gaming with a card that needs additional power, something in this will cause you issues.
