Great as a dedicated SpinRite box or all-purpose PC
Pros: * Quiet * Inexpensive and small * More ports, RAM, and features than competitors * 160 GB internal drive * 2 video ports: VGA & HDMI * eSata port * 5 USB ports * WiFi and LAN * Memory card reader * No operating system, so nothing you have to uninstall So many other tiny computers are short on ports, have no RAM and no hard drive, but cost the same or more. This one has it all.
Cons: The Quick Start guide is printed in black text on a dark gray background, making it hard to read. Big deal.
Overall Review: The Zotac MAGHD-ND01-U includes virtually everything any self-respecting PC should have. Yet it is very inexpensive and quiet. I needed an inexpensive, quiet system to run SpinRite for regular hard drive maintenance and occasional hard drive recovery tasks. If you don't know SpinRite, it is the utility that many computer repair shops and knowledgeable techies use to bring hard drives back from the dead. But it can also spare you or your clients tremendous headaches and costs by preventing hard disk problems BEFORE they happen. But it can tie up a computer for hours or days processing a larger hard drive, so I needed a dedicated PC to quietly do the job. The Zotac MAGHD boots SpinRite from an external USB CD/DVD drive (press the Del key during startup and set it as the first boot device). Then it can process any external USB or eSATA drive. Using an inexpensive drive dock / toaster makes it easy.
DuraBrite Ink
Pros: Best price I found on the Web, it is $7 less than in stores. The DuraBrite ink does not smear and is water-resistant. It does not transfer or leave a "shadow" the way laser toner does when pages are folded.
Cons: None
Overall Review: The one person who gave this product a 4 did not realize that it *is* DuraBrite ink.
