Laptop Hater LOVES THIS THING.

TOSHIBA Laptop Qosmio Intel Core i5-2450M 6GB Memory 640GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M Switches Graphics 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit X775-Q7170

Pros: Runs games (SWTOR highest settings, etc.) BEAUTIFULLY, has minimal power consumption, amazing video card, great processor, plenty of RAM, the speakers are UNBELIEVABLE, the light-up keys are perfect at night. You can charge your phone without turning on the laptop with the single always-on USB port, the screen is beautiful, the rippled contours for your wrists are low and relaxing, and the quick buttons on top are incredibly useful. The keys are so comfortable and lowly engraved that it's a breeze and requires little to no strain. I've built 15 computers and I have loathed laptops for years as worthless low-upgrade junk. This is not a laptop. This is a beast on wheels. Not only would I buy it again but I would tell every friend to ignore every laptop on the market and put this one first and foremost. This machine is worth so much more than its cost and I've actually preferred it in gaming over my own machines. Buy it, buy it now.

Cons: Extremely minor things: would rather have the USB Sleep and Charge port farther away from the regular one, strange position to be where it is. Any laptop this powerful overheats, but buy a 4-star cooling pad. For high-intensity video games, your left hand might feel hot so I recommend buying a G13 logitech game pad just to keep your hands off the machine (saves on key repairs from laptops, as I've endured in the past). Also the power supply is HUGE and the size of a brick or two bricks. That thing will get insanely hot so I recommend keeping it off of a rug when possible. You don't want it on your lap, it will likely burn you. Also it makes smaller laptop backpacks make it impossible to carry the thing around. Buy a big laptop bag. I bought one on here and had to buy a whole new one because it wouldn't fit with my standard cooling pad. Very frustrating.

Overall Review: So worth it. Buy it. Buy it buy it buy it. Buy a big laptop backpack to store all of your accessories and cooling pad and hold your power supply and you'll be good. Totally recommend the Cooler Master NotePal, the Logitech G9x mouse, and the G13 Logitech gamepad. The colors all match the machine in addition to their incredibly awesome 5-stars to date.

Secure, But WAY Too Small

Mobile Edge Black 17.3" SecurePack Backpack Model MEBSP4
Mobile Edge Black 17.3" SecurePack Backpack Model MEBSP4

Pros: Very secure, nice for city travel. Friend had his $2,000 laptop stolen and never bought another again. That's why I bought this. Secure and would seem to be great on bicycle/motorcycle traveling. Laptop is secure and nothing flaps around. I have a pretty heavy laptop but it feels nice and secure with the material surrounding it. The aerated material on the back feels good as well. I wouldn't do an intense cardio bike travel with a laptop on your back, but I'm sure this would be good if you want to bike to a cool shaded park and type something up. Just not the beach or somewhere hot. Read the cons as to why.

Cons: If you have a gaming laptop, it's probably not for you. I had to go out and buy a whole new laptop bag locally just to have space, so make sure this is right for you. I can barely fit the laptop and a Cooler Master http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834992805 in it and the zipper seriously feels like I'm going to rip the material. I'm not joking, it barely zips up and I could easily see this ruining the bag if I kept this up -- and this is removing all the parts and sections of the bag, too. So I have to choose between bringing the power supply or the pad, which isn't large at all. That's really not a decision a gamer should have to make knowing that their laptop can easily overheat without a cooling pad of some kind. If you think you're going to fit a keyboard or mouse or any other peripherals like headphones in it, forget it. It can hold a laptop and maybe a thin paperback book, without power or a cool machine.

Overall Review: I'm an extremely vain person and concerned about my appearance, and I think it looks great despite the other review. I looked at myself on every angle of the mirror and it passed my vanity. My mother, brother, and friend agreed. However, the first thing the 8-year-old at a friend's house said was "it looks like a beetle!" -- I think regular backpacks look more goofy and burdensome, this one is quite thin. Clearly because of how small it is, it doesn't protrude. I LOVE this idea, don't get me wrong, but Mobile Edge, if you're listening to this, make a bigger bag!! This is really the only one you have?? You have an awesome idea and somebody should have thought about this before. But until then, I can put a mini lock in-between my two zippers to keep them together and make it equally as secure so nobody steals my laptop from behind.

Loved It, Inoperable After 1 Year

Logitech G9x Black Two modes scroll USB Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Logitech G9x Black Two modes scroll USB Wired Laser Gaming Mouse

Pros: Responsive, customizable, comfortable, and contains weights to be as heavy or light as you want it. I personally prefer a light mouse so it doesn't feel like a burden moving it anywhere, and without the weights it is incredibly light.

Cons: The moment this cord gets tangled, it begins to separate, bunch up, and constrain the wiring until it won't function any more. It's completely unreliable and after spending this much money I've gone out and bought a $20 mouse. I'm extremely disappointed in how quickly this thing died for its price. It's like a woven mesh so it really cuts the mouse into being inoperable.

Overall Review: I completely understand the practical use for a protective mesh around the cord, and trust me I loved the idea when I first bought it. Unfortunately after using it rather often it defeated the very purpose it was trying to make. I would love this product so much more if they would get rid of this "protective" wiring.

I Use This Everywhere. Even Now.

Cooler Master NotePal LapAir Laptop Cooling Pad with Comfy Sponge Mat, Up to 17"
Cooler Master NotePal LapAir Laptop Cooling Pad with Comfy Sponge Mat, Up to 17"

Pros: It's on my lap right now (as it has been for over a year) with a 17.3" laptop. It's comfortable, quiet, and there's unbelievable improvements in how it prevents the laptop from getting hot. Even if the fan isn't running, it still keeps my vents open and flows air through beautifully. When playing a game that sucks the power out of my laptop like Guild Wars 2, the difference between the fan on and off are remarkably. My hands start to burn when the fan is off. Plug the fan in and I can go for hours without discomfort. This isn't just some piece of plastic, it's an investment that could keep all your computer parts safe and potentially double the life of your laptop. And even if you don't play intensive games, wouldn't it be nice to have a laptop you could put on your lap, especially one this size? The fans are also really quiet. You can hear it lightly, but not when you got music playing.

Cons: The only con is that you'll need to purchase a laptop bookbag. And quite honestly, if you're already carrying around a laptop that's a good 17", you should probably be doing that any ways. Be sure to get a bag with depth, it is about the same size as my laptop in terms of length x width x depth, so you figure you'll want one that looks like it could fit two laptops. I know it sounds huge but it isn't at all and it's very lightweight. It's solid plastic so it's not going to crush or compact but you need space for it.

Overall Review: This thing is second nature to me. I keep it on my bed with no problems, on the couch, tables, and it's elevated enough that I know that if someone spills a drink on the table, the laptop is elevated high enough not to be affected. If it's on a flat surface, it's also ergonomic to make your laptop feel a little more elevated for your hands. So even if you play on a flat surface, it still has a great deal of advantages. As the title says, I take it everywhere because it's so incredibly useful.

Um, It Works!

Syba 5 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card - SY-NEC-5U
Syba 5 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card - SY-NEC-5U

Pros: It's tiny and it works. The slim design helps circulate air through the case.

Cons: There isn't enough ice cream in the house.

Overall Review: If you need it, go for it. They haven't burned out and the material is decent.

Bluetooth is AWFUL on this thing.

Logitech diNovo Edge 2-Tone 84 Normal Keys 9 Function Keys Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard
Logitech diNovo Edge 2-Tone 84 Normal Keys 9 Function Keys Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard

Pros: Fantastic design, ultra thin, great charger, lightweight, and a marvel at technological advancement. Only one huge issue...

Cons: I'm buying a cheap keyboard today. Why? Bluetooth response failed very often. A key will stick and be held for several seconds even after turning off the keyboard. Even worse, the keyboard will stop responding and you'll have to turn it off and on. Even when fully charged. Despite loving this keyboard's appeal and convenience, it is HORRIBLE playing an online game and running off a cliff because the Bluetooth stops responding and goes off on a tangent, or just stops altogether and you can't even communicate that your keyboard is malfunctioning.

Overall Review: The design is spectacular, but this is exclusively a web browsing keyboard. If you attempt to play online games, even World of Warcraft, expect to be a complete n00b by your keyboard running into mobs of enemies and wiping your party. It's happened to me countless times, and I've had enough.
