Don't let the yellow color fool you!
Pros: 64GB of MATCHED MEMORY, need I say more?
Cons: Red, awesome... Blue, sweet... Silver, nice! But this memory is yellow... Seriously, I had 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts about buying this memory, because it REALLY looked cheap. I don't buy things for how they "look", I buy them for how they perform. Having never used a GeIL memory offering before, I was put off by it's "appearance".
Overall Review: Bought this to use with an ASUS Sabertooth X79 motherboard and I can tell you it was immediately recognized and runs like a champ. If you're considering an over the top memory purchase like this, you can't go wrong with this setup!
DOA
Pros: It's made by Western Digital!
Cons: The BIOS detected it and that's IT... Of course NewEgg will replace it, but now I get to sit around for an additional week waiting...
Overall Review: I love WD hard drives, will buy plenty more, but with all the DOA reviews lately, it makes me wonder WTH happened to this whole shipment.....
WOW! Value Series?
Pros: Where do I begin? 1. Cableless design 2. Power switch 3. No flimsy handles SUPPORTS SATA 6Gbps, regardless of what the description says. Yes, I'm getting full 6Gbps speed from these drives!
Cons: No cons of any kind.
Overall Review: I hope that NewEgg reactivates and continues to carry this product. Because if this is what AMS calls their "Value Series", I can only imagine what their "Elite Series" does better!
WOW!
Pros: As nice as this case looks in the pictures, it looks even BETTER in person. Plenty of room, built in fan, no issues at all. iStarUSA should be selling 1,000's of these every month!
Cons: My only complaint, is that the front ports don't support USB 3.0. Everything is moving forward iStarUSA, please try and keep up!
Overall Review: Very impressed. We'll be recommending this case highly.
Important notes regarding this board...
Pros: Very well designed board. You'd be hard pressed to find anything built as well as this unit is. Sweet UEFI BIOS. Let's not forget about the 5 Year warranty!
Cons: 2 VERY important notes: 1. If you're going to be using Linux, UPGRADE THE BIOS FIRST! Asus is using UEFI on this board and if you don't upgrade the BIOS, you're going to have all sorts of problems from improper installs, to lockups! 2. This board uses an 8-PIN EATX 12V connector. NOT AN 8-PIN PCI-E connector! The manual says you *can* use a standard 4-PIN ATX 12V connector, but with my 32 years of experience in this business, I can tell you that you will NOT get the stability you need from it. Be sure that you have a power supply that provides the 8-PIN EATX connector and you'll be set.
Overall Review: You can't discern this from the description, but even though there are 4 - SATA 6Gbps connectors, 2 are on the built in Intel controller and 2 are on the built in Marvell controller. I note this, because a) it's not apparent and b) because the manual says that ATAPI drives are not supported on the Marvell controller. This is definitely a motherboard that requires some quick time spent reading the manual. Between UEFI, BIOS updates, Power Connectors and SATA issues, it'll be well worth your time. We are very satisfied with this board, I highly recommend it to anyone building a high-end system.
