Nice for sata drive

Pros: It has a fan, it has an activity LED, its sturdy. I got it at a reasonable price
Cons: None
Overall Review: This is my third sata mobile drive rack. All three are built well. I haven't had a problem with them yet. Other thoughts: Some people have a hard time closing the lock. It helps to use two hands to close it, one on the latch, one on the lock.
Bad hardware, bad cutomer relations

Pros: works, when it works, but check hardware cons first.
Cons: I've had USB error blue screens since I had this laptop. Error happens in both windows and Linux. Leads me to believe it is a bios related error. Sent laptop to Toshiba for repair, get it back and it still has the same USB problem. After calling several times to resolve issue with case managers and customer relations, no suitable resolution was offered.
Overall Review: I was promised several things by this company. All of which were never met. I was told my hard drive would be replaced when sent in for repair (it never was). I was then told I would have to pay for shipping on recovery cd's for recovery partition after I was promised a new hard drive with the partition restored. Overall bad company to deal with when something goes wrong. I will never buy another toshiba product again, and I urge you to reconsider your next toshiba purchase.
advanced users beware

Pros: Easy to add second sata drive internally. Get three eggs because of the hard ware on it .
Cons: Cons: 1) No win 8 install disc or the oem offering to sell the back up discs. So make sure you makea full backup of your hard drive and make recovery discs before you try to alter the computer. my win 8 oem licensed product key is contained in the motherboard im told by asus. So if my hard drive is broken, im required to send this laptop back to asus and pay for one way shipping to replace the hd and os withon 90 days. If it is outside of warranty, i would be required to pay $100 plus dollar for the hd and os. I was told by microdoft that i do own the right to my l license key and asus is required to give me the product key. I spoke to a supervisor at asus and im told that they would not provide me my product key and the company denies the fact there is one fore the laptop. I asked well how can i get product support from micosoft if i dont have my produuct license key. Asus had no answer for me...... now i have to buy another operating system that comes with a disc and product key (pretty upset about that). 2) i do not like the switch to the new bios (efi?). Thankfully you can disable it by turning off secure boot. From what i read, doing this will make win 8 unbootable, so use caution. 3) the refurbished laptop has a cheap feel to the removable keyboard but it still works. So i guess i can live with it.
Overall Review: Overall im really disappointed in the aoftware on this laptop. Well atleast i only paid under $500 for this. Advanced users beware of this lemon.
Great Headset with mic

Pros: Have had this set over a year. I have ran over the wire to it so many time with my computer chair and it still works great. I originally bought this item for skype. I use this headset for just about everything. Music, movies, games, skype, etc.
Cons: None really, except the volume on the headset gets a little loose after a year of playing with it, but it still works. Would still buy this item again.
Overall Review: My only complaint is the increase in shipping costs. $7.68 UPS 3day flat rate (and it never gets her in 3 days). I can order from other company's the same product for a fraction of the shipping cost. Shouldn't have to cut the cost of your product because of your shipping cost :-/ .
Great desktop replacement

Pros: Great desktop replacement. This machine can do all the things my desktop does for me. Dedicated graphics card on here is great for gaming. I like the full size keyboard. You mouse doesn't move when you type (unlike some hp model I used). No ugly annoying shortcut key on the keypad (another problem with other laptops) I didn't find the laptop speakers to be that much of problem. I didn't expect great quality speakers on a laptop. I use headphones or high quality speakers through the HD head jack. So far I like the audio card. Toshiba Windows OS recovery is pretty smooth. Already had to use it when adjusting partitions for Linux. Shipping, Based on my previous experience with UPS and damaged packages, I decided to go with Fed ex. Fed ex shipping got this machine to me in perfect condition in two days. This machine still gets 5 eggs because it meet all my expectations. Great graphics card, great audio card, great keyboard, and a great monitor.
Cons: No recovery discs included. Some minor OS issues with windows drivers that come pre-installed. Ethernet port periodically disconnects you from internet. So far the updated driver are working ok. When starting up, sometimes usb ports don't work, rebooting solves this problem. most likely another windows driver problem. Lights on front can be bright, but I covered them (problem solved).
Overall Review: Ubuntu 10.4 will start this machine, but not much Linux support yet (machine is still new). Lots of bloat ware is pre-installed (easy to remove it). Over all I like this machine, and I would recommend it.
nice, but I expected more

Pros: My whole reason for buying this laptop was because it had an AMD processor, Ati graphics card, and a Giga byte Ethernet card. I am grateful that this laptop does not have a glossy finish like the previous models I read about. HD ATI card gives this screen a great picture.
Cons: Keyboard: I don’t like the insert key being on the print screen key. I do not like the short cut keys next to the left side of the keyboard. I use the control key often and end up hitting the calc key when I do. Mouse: The mouse is very sensitive, so sensitive that when I type it moves my cursor when typing documents. That can be very annoying. Never had this problem with my dell latitude 110L. Operating system speed:I had anticipated this problem prior to purchase: Windows software comes preload with no Windows install cd’s. That’s not a problem except all the junk software that came preloaded on the laptop. HP by default installs an OEM recovery partition on the hard drive. When I first started it, the laptop was really slow to start. I went and made HP recovery cd’s and install windows 7 pro to increase the laptop performance. Operating system load in less than 15 seconds on average now. Processor: Fast for normal tasks and some PC game play. Not recommended for PC games. W
Overall Review: Minor: Shell for laptop is thin. This can be a double edge sword. Light weight, but light enough if I drop it can be seriously damaged. Final thoughts: Consider getting a laptop fan if you’re going to be using this for gaming. Graphics card gets hot after being used for a couple hours. Will be stuck using this thing for t he next 4 years. Should have saved more and went with a better machine, but I got what I paid for. This laptop is not for a PC professional
