4 out of 5 eggs Bad SATA Cables 01/03/2010

This review is from: BIOSTAR TForce TP43D2A7 LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Board works well after the fix listed in Cons. Boots fast. No problems at all at this point. Note: I am not using this build for gaming/overclocking. Four stars because of inclusion of SATA cables that went bad.

Cons: After about 9 months, began having trouble at boot up. Would get stuck at hardware monitor or other spots. HD and/or CD Drives would not show up. Did various things to resolve. Thought board was bad. LSS...swapped out SATA cables (both HD and CD/DVD are SATA) and voila no more problems! So if you are having issues like this, try replacing the SATA cables. Now been running six months no problems.

Other Thoughts: Core 2 Duo E7200

Pros: One of the best looking video cards when mounted in the case. No issues with video. Note: The computer that this card is in is not used for gaming. I wanted a reasonable bang for the buck and this card did the job.

Cons: Card is wide. Be sure you have room for it.

Other Thoughts: This card is in an Antec P-160WF case. This case is listed with a width of 8.1 inches. The card has about 1 inch of room between it and the window side of the case when mounted on the motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggs Good so far 08/20/2008

This review is from: BIOSTAR TForce TP43D2A7 LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Lot of features at a good price. This was part of a major upgrade of a computer I built 4 years ago. As noted, the CPU sits closer to the top of the mobo than on other boards and the northbridge heatsink is close. This means that many aftermarket hsf's will not fit properly. I used Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. It will fit with fan blowing air down or toward the front of the PC, but not toward the back as intended. I have it blowing down. This is in an ANTEC P160W case that I built previously. Lots of USB ports.

Cons: Front audio port header works with HD audio only which my older case does not have. I will need to plug headphones into the rear until I add a card. Floppy connector at bottom forced me to use the original 2 foot ribbon cable rather than my round cable. I am ordering a longer floppy round cable. No firewire but that's not important to me.

Other Thoughts: The card is not as wide as my prior mobo, so it does not use as many standoffs/screws on the right side. My system: Antec P160WF case (full tower), this mobo, Intel E7200, AC Freezer 7 Pro, 2 Gb OCZ DDR2 1066, ECS N9600GT 512MX PCI-E 2.0, Corsair 550W, plus HDs, DVD recorder, etc. Running Win XP.
