NEC chipset Rocks!
Pros: This is a great all-around OEM burner. The NEC chipset makes for very smooth, error-free DVD burning. SATA speeds make burning movies take HALF the time! No burning errors yet...at least as far as I can tell. This is a GREAT Newegg value!
Cons: Drive is a bit on the noisy side, but it's a small price to pay for virtually error-free burning! If you don't know what OEM means when you buy this drive, you probably don't need to purchase it. This is a drive for a machine with all the bells and whistles.
Overall Review: I have done my best to workhorse this drive and make it produce an error. No such luck up to this point. Just short of picking up your machine and shaking it violently during the burning process; you pretty much can't get this thing to make a bad burn!
Fairly Decent Card
Pros: Great card so far, not having a fan makes my box so much quieter. Driver install was painless.
Cons: The management software that comes with the card is a bit sketchy at best. Tried to update it but it didn't help much. Absolutely WILL NOT detect my TV, using Vista or XP Pro, despite updated drivers from NVidia. I wouldn't recommend for dual view unless your TV is digital. There also seems to be an issue with City of Heroes on my XP drive. I traced it to a video driver, but even rolling back to the original factory driver didn't help. Works fine of Vista though!
Overall Review: There is no unified update function for the software, you have to go d/l each individual update manually.
Rock-Solid Gaming investment
Pros: Literally just everything about this card. Installation of the drivers were a little tricky, but still easy, most likely do to the number of games I have installed. After installation, this thing runs like a dream! Very nearly silent in my case, and runs idle at around 44c. It actually runs cooler full bore HD gaming than my 9800 GT did at idle almost! 65c is normal op temperature while gaming, and not a single hiccup! Most of my games are currently maxed on HD settings and run as smooth as silk. Run 2 of these SLI and you can take on anything if you have the space available!
Cons: Don't really have any cons on this one...which is rare for me! I needed it the day I ordered it, and newegg couldn't transport it to me as they don't have the technolgy to yet. It still got here remarkably fast in spite of that.
Overall Review: Absolutely the best investment I've made in my PC in a long time! I honestly can't believe I went as long as I did without this powerhouse in my system! My only regret was that I couldn't wait until Watch Dogs came out, since Daylight isn't that great...but it was free. I would have gotten this card with No free game, and would have been just as satisfied with my purchase!
Great All-Around Gamer
Pros: Great looking design, well constructed for the most part. Mechanical keyboard works good, shift buttons stick if not pressed at the perfect angle. Backlit design works well as long as you don't mind scroll lock being on. Without illumination the key assignments are not visible. Mouse works great, has a DPI indicator built into the button, and has a blue sensor as well. Very cool looking and functional!
Cons: Not too many cons to be honest. The keyboard was missing one of the rubber foot pads upon arrival, the one in the front center no less! I can already see where it's bowing from use because of it. Mechanical keyboard works good, shift buttons stick if not pressed at the perfect angle. I would have given it 5 eggs were it not for those two things.
Overall Review: It's a good set for a beginning gamer, or someone building their first PC. As for gaming options on the keyboard itself, there are none. Basically it just works and looks cool; which is exactly the reason I purchased it. That and it matches my PC build perfectly. Beyond that, if you're looking for customizable options and programmability, I would look elsewhere.
Awesome Cooler
Pros: I have this sitting on top of an E8400 Wolfdale mounted on a P5Q Pro OC'd to 4 gigs, 1700 FSB; and at idle my CPU hovers at about 80ish degrees. On a full load, it occasionally goes over 100 degrees; and the Arctic Silver that's on it hasn't even cured yet!
Cons: Seems like it might put some stress on a cheap MB, otherwise; none that I can think of.
Overall Review: When the Arctic Silver cures, I imagine I will be seeing full load temps of under 100 degrees. AND it looks cool!
Buyer Beware
Pros: The only pro I can see is that I paid less that 20 bucks for this worthless piece of hardware. I purchased this card because it had XP 64 drivers; but they don't install at all.
Cons: Using 64-bit Vista Ultimate and XP pro; I cannot get this thing to connect. I have downloaded drivers from the website; to no avail. Tried re-installing OS and using drivers from the disc, still no luck. Windows Zero shows Excellent signal strength, but absolutely will not connect. I have a USB adapter that shows weaker signal strength, but NO connection issues whatsoever. I have tried everything I can think of, but this card refuses to connect.
Overall Review: Absolutely worthless piece of hardware...does nothing but take up a PCI slot that could be utilized for something else. NOT impressed at ALL Asus!
