1 out of 5 eggs Not suitable for secure WMA audiobooks 06/13/2006

This review is from: SanDisk Silver 1GB MP3 Player Sansa e140

Pros: Very good price for a 1 Gb flash memory extendable to 3 Gb via the SD slot. Light. Good FM reception. Weatherproof transparent case.

Cons: I bought this solely to listen to secure WMA audiobooks (such as those provided by netLibrary). Because it doesn't remember its position in the file ("bookmark") when it's powered on again, it is unusable for that purpose.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg *does* sell a good MP3 for such audiobooks (which I've just ordered). However, this "bookmark" feature doesn't ever show up on the list of features for an MP3 player. I only found a suitable player by going to the vendor's site and downloading the PDF manual.

4 out of 5 eggs Some boot difficulties 10/10/2005

This review is from: ViewSonic VP201B Black 20.1" 16ms LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 400:1

Pros: None

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is the finest LCD monitor I have ever had for visual quality. But it has a quirk I haven't yet figured out. The first one simply wouldn't produce an image after four reboots of my machine. I RMA'd it and NewEgg had a new one at my door within days. But, recently, the new one diplays similar problems. I now "play games" with it before booting. I switch on the monitor and let the pixels become gray *before* booting the machine. The monitor sometimes *still* fails to produce an image until 20 seconds or so after machine boot. Since this is similar to the problem the old one had I suspect it's a ViewSonic anomaly of some sort.
