Solid system
Pros: Solid components. Good price. Started from day one. Runs Tribes Ascend, World of Tanks and Company of Heroes 2 (Beta) without issue.
Cons: Windows 8. First time using it and while it's acceptable there are some issues. It wanted my old microsoft ID during registration. Little did I know someone had hacked this thing years ago and changed the user name to ... jennygirlie. So my computer wanted to call me that name and it was on the main user file and I could not change nor rid myself of it. After 3 days I stuck in the recovery CD and started over. Fixed but my Windows.old file still has a jennygirlie....I'm a guy FWIW. There is something wrong with scrolling and it also extends into EverQuest 2 when I attempt to grab an item from a bag and drag it to another spot. The item/icon drops off the mouse pointer. When I scroll in say a web browser it also drops off the mouse. Also in EverQuest 2 when looking around it's just not smooth. I don't have this issue in newer games I also play. Windows 8 isn't terrible but there seems to be some underlying issue. Also when I plugged in a couple of USB items (like my scanner)it did not recognize them and install the drivers like Win 7 did. NewEgg warranty vs Avatar Warranty Here at New Egg we get a 1 year warranty. If you purchase the same system directly from Avatar you get a 3 year warranty . so I'm stuck with a 1 year warranty instead of 3.
Overall Review: What's actually in the box. *16 MB Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM 9-9-9-24 .. BLS8G3D1609ES2LX0 *MSI brand NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650Ti 1GB *GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard *LEPA B650 Power supply *WD Blue 1TB HDD .. WMC1S2899863 *IN WIN G7 case with one front and one back fan So far the system is solid and should do what I need it for over the next 3-5 years. Feel the components are solid as well. Probably the only thing I had actually wanted to upgrade was the 2 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650Ti but so far this card is doing just fine. Windows 8 isn't terrible but wish I had gone with Windows 7 this round. Not sure why Avatar doesn't allow the same warranty they do if I purchase it through them. No point in registering it with them IMHO.
Terrible for gaming
Pros: low cost backlit keyboard
Cons: Weight, it's just to light. Not stable. Trying to use WASD and say shift for sprint....sucks. I'm not even sure why but it's just ... off. There isn't anything for the wrists to sit on like the AZIO L70.
Overall Review: I bought this to replace an AZIO L70 keyboard because after much use some of the letters were unreadable. I just went and pulled the old L70 out of the trash and will be putting the KB505U in the trash.
Pass on new egg or other online stores, shop local
Pros: backlit keyboard, looks nice, seemed to handle game graphics well
Cons: All I know is this thing can't handle simple tasks like browsing the internet on Opera. It would lock up for 5+ seconds, then clear, then in a short while lock up, over and over and over.
Overall Review: I did an RMA on this laptop. I'm pretty much hosed if I return it due to the just stupid high restocking fee. $123.06 restocking fee for a $889.99 product that has issues. I'm pretty much hosed if I keep it due to the continuous locking up while browsing. This is my last ever purchase from New Egg. Could have run down to a local store for a similar system and then returned it if need be without any excessive fees. Cya New Egg.
Solid system
Pros: System runs great for my games (CoD: Black Ops, World of Warcraft), watching cable television over my Hauppauge card, streaming on justin.tv, browsing the internet and anything else I throw at it. First system that I didn't build myself in about 10 years. Felt the price was reasonable.
Cons: N/A
Overall Review: Can't speak for the mouse or keyboard as I am not using them. Have my own personal preferences there.
Pros: Good memory. Used the same model only in 2GB for a system I built a little over a year ago. Just added this 4GB to the system and it's running great.
Cons: No Cons on the item, just that my MB seems to be limited to using less than 4GB of RAM while using a 32 bit OS, which made this particular purchase a waste it seems.
Solid
Pros: Solid sound for the price. I watch alot of TV shows and movies on my PC. My old system had to much base in it and made it difficult to enjoy shows for this reason. These speakers are much clearer to include music and games. They also have a much smaller footprint than my last speakers. Arrived in a timely manner as all newegg orders do.
Cons: When I unpacked them the top, right speaker center was crushed in. Doesn't seem to have effected the sound to much...but...had this been a local purchase I would have 100% returned for an exchange but not worth it due to shipping costs.
