Not compatible with all HDTV's
Pros: Tested Formats (working) VIDEO - .m2ts (can't play true hd audio - must be DTS) - .iso (dvd image of movie) - .mpg - .flv - .wmv - .mp4 - .avi (xvid) - .mkv (played both 720p and 1080p) MUSIC - .mp3 - .wav - .flac PHOTO - .jpg - .bmp - .gif (not animated .gif files) The player is easy to set up and use. The unit is quiet, lightweight, and small. I hooked up a 1tb hard drive to the usb port and it recognized it with no problems. You can set up playlists, which is a nice feature. The plug is a bit bulky, but is designed to only take up one outlet. I'm using this unit with a Samgsung HX-DU010EB hard drive and it loads the files in no time. It comes with an HDMI cable, so you don't have to go out and buy one.
Cons: Formats not working VIDEO - .m2ts files with true hd audio (movie plays, but no audio) - .img (dvd image of movie) PHOTO - .png - .gif (will not display animated .gif files) For some reason, this player was not working with my Insignia HDTV. The Audio would not work. However, it was purchased for my living room hdtv (Sony Wega) and it works perfectly with that tv.
Overall Review: You can't use the unit without the remote, so don't lose it. Very simple to use. When the player is turned on, click media player, then USB device, then the file (or playlist) you want to play. I would have given this 5 stars, but it doesn't work with my Insignia 46'' NS-L46X-10AHDTV. The audio would not work, and it wouldn't let me change my screen resolution.
Great Hard Drive
Pros: Great Speeds using USB 3.0. It's quiet.
Cons: None so far.
Pros: Plays videos from both "videos" and "photos" sections of iphone. Also plays videos from youtube app. You can also view photos if you select a slideshow. Quality is quite good, depending on resolution of your video. It will play audio while using pandora.
Cons: Unable to play video from certain apps such as nfl mobile.
Overall Review: Be careful using the 30 pin connector as it can be hard to remove.
