2 out of 5 eggs Big Time BIOS Problems 10/27/2010

This review is from: TYAN S7025AGM2NR SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5520 DDR3 1333

Pros: Number of working PCIE slots

Cons: Case Header integration can be a challange. Generally, I have some that some SSI\EEB system boards provide ATX case header pinouts. Others provide case header pinouts that are close to the SSI\EEB standard. This board is sort of close. I have yet to find a third party system board manufacturer that makes a proper SSI\EEB case header pinout.

Other Thoughts: Big time BIOS problems. The BCM has become the bain of my existance. Flashing it to 2.0 bricked the feature. And then flash the AMI BIOS to 1.7 bricked the entire board.
Also, Tyan's on-line tech support is simply horrible. Responses to ticket submissions take 3 or 4 days. And when they respond, you get these emails filled with screens of empty technical details fields. One is hard pressed to find the typically dismissive 1 or 2 sentence response you get from thier tech support.

This was my second Tyan system board purchase. Unfortuantley, things have to break before you find out what a company is really like. In this case, it will be my last Tyan purchase.
