A Nice Compromise

Pros: 1. Both printing and scanning work with both Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu. 2. Has very good output in "Draft" mode. The quality is quite acceptable for most applications and is very fast. 3. Allowed me to save desk space with only one hardware "footprint." 4. Photo printing is fine for a 3 color printer. 5. Copying is quick and easy.
Cons: 1. Lacks a slide or negative adapter (no back lighting in the lid.) 2. HP software is less intuitive than I like. 3. The HP 60 cartridge is fairly new and seems a bit expensive. 4. No individual tanks for colors.
Overall Review: For Ubuntu I needed to download and install the latest "hplip" software from the internet. This was not a big problem. Both the Ubuntu and XP installations of Picasa worked very well with scanning. The biggest issue for me will be how long the ink lasts and whether I can successfully refill the cartridges. Overall this seems to be a good basic all-in-one for average home use. I am satisfied.
so far so good

Pros: 1. cheapest gigabit WAN/LAN router I could find. 2. install was painless. Upgraded to latest Netgear firmware easily. 3. 55 Mbps in from Comcast, 55 Mbps out to computer -- no real throughput loss. I was losing about 6 Mbps with my old WPN824v3.
Cons: 1. USB transfers are slow. This is a potentially great bonus feature, which seems to be poorly implemented. Copied to it at 6.3 MB/s and from it at 4.8 MB/s. Over 4 times slower than putting the stick in a computer USB port.
Overall Review: I have no interest in the 3rd party firmware. I bought this to improve my broadband throughput and to have gigabit WAN/LAN available and that is what I got. The unit I received is a v2, which is what I wanted because of the larger RAM. I have had good luck with Netgear refurbs over the years, so I took that leap of faith again. It is doing what I wanted , so 5 stars.
Fast Burns at a Bargain Price

Pros: Works very well with Taiyo Yuden TYG03 media. Burns a full dvd video in about 5 minutes 20 seconds, with low error rates. I like the fact that it is not using up a SATA board connection. Unbeatable price!!
Cons: Slightly noisy, but I have had drives that were a lot worse.
Overall Review: I just bought a second one of these and also have 2 LH-20A1S drives. I am impressed by the way Lite-On drives function with Taiyo Yuden media. I get excellent results with both TYG02 and TYG03. Be sure that you download the latest firmware. I believe this is especially important for burning TYG03.
