My Favorite Mouse

Perixx MX-2000B Ergonomic Programmable Laser Gaming Mouse Adjustable Weight 5000 DPI RGB Backlit
Perixx MX-2000B Ergonomic Programmable Laser Gaming Mouse Adjustable Weight 5000 DPI RGB Backlit

Pros: Ergonomics Price Cheap to replace Attractive Programmable (internally stored, kept when boot to Linux, etc) Button to change DPI on the fly It works on many surfaces, even cats when they sprawl on your mouse pad :)

Cons: After 1-3yrs, begins to lose accuracy, buttons get worn as sometimes I have to click twice on something, and lags Plastic pad moves off thumb button when aged, but easy to restick or I could remove it entirely (didn't happen on any others I've owned)

Overall Review: I've owned several of these over the years and you can't beat price/performance. The ergonomics are wonderful for my hand, and I have pain issues. But I can compute all day, game, and have little to no pain. I had to have surgery for overuse in 2000 (software engineer), but no sign of anything with this mouse. Love the programmability, even with weird but easy software.

Doesn't Work

Professional USB Wired Optical Gaming Mouse Adjustable 5 Levels DPI 5500 with 6 Buttons LED Light for Desktop PC Laptop Gamer
Professional USB Wired Optical Gaming Mouse Adjustable 5 Levels DPI 5500 with 6 Buttons LED Light for Desktop PC Laptop Gamer

Pros: Cheap Cheap Cheap Bare minimum mouse, when it works Comfortable, nice lights

Cons: Cheap No DPI color indicator, switches DPI Not 5500 DPI by Long Shot Left Click intermittent with some software No fine adjustment, work to aim

Overall Review: Edit: After some lengthy negotiations with the seller, they sent me another mouse (I had to agree to amend this review, but know that it has not affected what I will say). This all took a LONG time. At first, they wanted me to video the problems I had, to show their engineers (and prove it, I guess), since I didn't want to pay to return it. I told them that was ridiculous and that the mouse was so cheap it was not worth it (nor would it be any proof), so "goodbye". After a few of those exchanges, they agreed to send me the new mouse, claiming that they were truly good mice. The shipping time from China is forever, so this took a few months to get settled. OK, new mouse... Well, you get what you pay for, eh? This is about what I would expect from a mouse of this price. Not very accurate, with a delay every now and then. It also feels cheap, even though it is comfortable. I would give up comfort to have an accurate pointing device. I have to concentrate so much on what I am clicking on that it drains all fun out of computing. I could not deal with that too long! I also displays one of the problems I had with the first mouse, which is not processing clicks, although intermittently and usually only with some specific software (BlueStacks desktop Android emulator). Unlike its predecessor, it doesn't just forget the first click; sometimes takes many to get my 'point' across. It switches out of high DPI modes without warning and seems to have forgotten one of them. The lights are no help. See original review, below, for more info on the DPI issue. This mouse is not usable, if you want any kind of normal, usable interaction with your computer. It is only usable in the sense of having a mouse at all, that mostly works, is comfortable, and has pretty colors. I changed my rating from 1 star to 2 stars, due to the fact that they sent me another mouse. I wish I could give more for that, but it was painful to get the replacement and I couldn't recommend this mouse to anyone. I said in the original review that if it worked, I could use it, but I meant worked better than this bare minimum. Original review: I am not sure how I missed that this ships from China. I have a rule about that, as stuff takes forever to get and nothing ever works, and usually makes no sense to return, so money out unless a nice vendor. Took 3 wks to get it. I thought it was just like my Perixx mouse that I love, but it is not, by a long shot and by a few bucks (Perixx is more, but still very inexpensive). The bad news is that it doesn't perform everything as it should, so cannot be used. The left click button is intermittent, so a lot of click click clicking to do a one click job. I retired it in favor of my dead old Perixx. This mouse feels so cheap that I'd be surprised if it DID work 100%. Today, before I put old mouse back on, it completely died on me...cursor stuck in upper left corner of screen, had to reboot. I don't think it is 5500 DPI...maybe 4000, so it is adequate for normal stuff. But gaming, IDK. There is no way to tell, by the light color, what DPI it is, and comes with no software (the Perixx has a complete configuration program) to change the settings, etc. The DPI switch is strange, only one tiny button, not a 2 way like the Perixx (up/down). Wheel is odd, but I might like it after I got used to it. IF this mouse worked, it would be OK and I'd be happily using it until I received another Perixx.

Quiet Fan that Pushes the Air

Antec 761345-75026-4 Red LED 3-Speed Case Cooling Fan
Antec 761345-75026-4 Red LED 3-Speed Case Cooling Fan

Pros: Surprisingly quiet, on Medium; can hear it but is OK Pushes good air Colorful addition to my case All connectors have male/female ends

Cons: No soft rubber feet, which my case needs (Coolermaster), just metal screws Can't keep speed switch out of case, so permanently set to Medium

Overall Review: This replaces a killer high speed fan, and does so well, although I was able to keep that fan on high whereas this I cannot, esp since I'd have to get in the case to switch it down. All in all I'd recommend it, esp with the added treat of the LEDs

So Far, So Good

Perixx MX-1000 Copper, Programmable Gaming Mouse - 7 Programmable Button & 5 User Profile - Avago A3050 Optical Sensor - DPI Switch 500-4000 - Compatible with Win 10
Perixx MX-1000 Copper, Programmable Gaming Mouse - 7 Programmable Button & 5 User Profile - Avago A3050 Optical Sensor - DPI Switch 500-4000 - Compatible with Win 10

Pros: Pros: Comfortable, smooth, expensive feel, has helped my repetitive injuries over my usual mice Can change DPI (resolution) on the fly, and save 5 presets with software dl from Perixx website, with easy up/dn button Can turn the DPI lights so they only flash the color when you click the DPI button Inexpensive but not cheap (got it on sale, too!), lot of bang for the buck

Cons: Not many cons for this price! Accuracy wore down after 3 months but still using it 13 mos later, keeping it on highest DPI Software crashes now after Applying change, may need to get new version

Overall Review: Came in a good, protective package, unlike the usual mice I buy, which are in a flimsy white cardboard sleeve, so packaging is much better than its price would suggest. **3 months later...although comfortable, I am having problems with accuracy and have to constantly turn up the DPI. I am hard on mice, and this has a LOT of hours on it already, but no more than usual on the Logitechs I used to get. This has way more bang for buck than they do, though. So I don't think this is so terrible **1 Year later.. Well, guess it wasn't SO bad, I am still using it although I wish accuracy was as when new. My replacement mouse came defective and so am gratefully back to using it; it is no worse off than when I last edited this review a year ago. It is SO much more expensive feeling than that Chinese mouse and has better buttons, accuracy and DPI switching. What an amazing mouse! Buy it, buy a lot of them! I will never buy anything else unless the quality slips badly. Oh, many mentioned the copper 'plating' wearing off. Mine hasn't in 13 months of very heavy use, so perhaps they fixed that.

Whoosh!

SilverStone FM121 Case Cooling Fan
SilverStone FM121 Case Cooling Fan

Pros: I just got this and installed it 24hrs ago, so I can't speak to longevity, just initial impressions. I replaced a much cheaper fan than the fan package I bought for this computer. I bought it for a side fan which attaches to the removable panel opposite the MOBO to draw air into the case. Inexpensive, but lotta bang for buck it seems, esp including the RPM speed controller. Great bunch of connections, you can use either male or female molex Strong enough to use as a table fan on high speed! Fairly loud but not too bad with case closed and I am sitting very close to my case. Nicely made, better blades than old fan

Cons: Controller does not fit into my back panel, so had to rig it outside the case, not horrid, but would be so much cleaner to have it in case. I have a Coolermaster case. Not seeing as much improvement in CPU temp as I hoped, even on HIGH (and it is HIGH, you could almost use it for a small desk fan!). That could be a problem with CPU cooling or some other failure with liquid cooling system. Seems to help graphics card a bit more. YMMV depending on inside configuration. perhaps I am not remembering temps correctly from the last time I was obsessed with them :) Mine did NOT come with the rubber attachment thingies, but I had somehow gotten the impression it did, from some reviews. Tried to move them from my old fan, but was not able to get them in this fan, plus the fan did not line up exactly, by a couple mm, as my old fan did, so not sure they would have worked anyway. Ended up duct taping it to the side panel, which has worked in the past, but not a good solution. So I have that taped and also the controller taped to my desk. Not good. Controller seems cheap so expect that will be first thing to fail. Might just let it run on high and disconnect controller as it is not super loud.

Overall Review: Overall, even with the cons, am pretty pleased, and would recommend it, esp if your case takes the controller, if you plan to use it. It is better than I thought I wanted to pay for, so bang for buck, even if not elegant.

Good Card, No Problems

EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card
EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

Pros: Nice for the price, esp as it has 2GB RAM, etc, easy to install and set up, bought in Jan 2016 and no problems at all as of May 2016 (knock wood), able to get higher graphics settings on some internet games. Could set to ultra graphics ingame, but I would sacrifice in other areas, so I keep it just under. So it meets my needs. Definitely a cut above my Intel 3000 motherboard graphics chipset! Nice memory management.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Yes, most definitely.

Shipping Delay with No Notification by Shipper

I choose the free 3-5 day shipping, which would have had it at my door within that time. They sent me a fake tracking number, and when I finally realized it, a week later, and that they had not shipped, I contacted them. They all of a sudden shipped it, or that is how it seemed. The empty tracking number was merely an intent to ship, nothing more. It is a travesty that this seller continues to sell on NewEgg. Deceptive and unwilling to abide by their own shipping agreement (3-5 days). I would not recommend them to anyone else nor will I buy from them again.
