4 out of 5 eggs Good Cheap Ultrabook 01/26/2013

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad U310 43752CU 13.3" Ultrabook

Pros: The machine is designed as a low end ultrabook and with a little bit of effort, it can be a very fast machine. I increased the RAM to 8GB and upgraded to Windows 8PRO to boot up from the SSD. It is worth taking the time to format all the drives and reinstall the OS on the SSD and leave the hard drive for files.

I have had some minor issues with quality but at this prices, it is superbly fast, quiet and very easy to work with almost anywhere. Granted it does have a wireless signal issue but I see it as a minor incovenience.

Cons: The hinges fitting on my machine is a little bit off and the lid catches on the left side when I open it. At this point, it is not worth hassling with since the machine is finally configured the way I want it.

Other Thoughts: I am a road warrior with chronic fatigue issues and needed a fairly high speed laptop with adequate storage and also weigh as little as possible. This has been a life saver for me in an excellent combination of weight, cost and performance options.

3 out of 5 eggs Missed sweetspot 11/30/2012

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad U310 43752CU 13.3" Ultrabook

Pros: Light weight, decent battery life, decent screen,

Cons: I purchased this machine after a lot of research and read lots of reviews of all sorts of laptops. This machine has a few issues:
1) Boots from Hard drive instead of the Solid State drive - why would anyone in their right mind install a solid state drive and not use it for the OS?
2) Tons of junk software - I loathe them and it is an insult to sneak them in when I didn't want them or ask for them.
3) Keyboard misses an opportunity to be awesome - instead it is just fair.

3 out of 5 eggs Flawed design 03/30/2012

This review is from: Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX

Pros: When it works, the buttons and scrolling features are very nice. The five button design places the screen change/application switching feature a bit high on the mouse but it is easily accessible. The darkfield technology is very convenient for most surfaces.

Cons: As another reviewer and many owners are complaining, the single click frequently becomes a double click. I have reset the mouse multiple times but to no avail. Now I am also starting to get 'ghost' movement or scrolls and I am suspecting it is caused by the signal interference.

Other Thoughts: I have just had to purchase a replacement mouse due to the issues that I am having with it.
