ASUS Laptop G74 Series Intel Core i7-2630QM 12GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit G74SX-XN1
ASUS Laptop G74 Series Intel Core i7-2630QM 12GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit G74SX-XN1

Pros: Sturdy feel with a nice fit and finish. The 2nd HDD bay with the adapter is nice for upgrading. No cooling problems while running games, even laying on a bed... this is due to the fan arrangment. Quiet operation. Latest drivers for touchpad fix any issues. Backlit keyboard is nice, no extra media player buttons or controls to unexpectedly launch an app while you are in the middle of your gaming.

Cons: The USB 3.0 port drops power to my unpowered 1TB external occasionaly. There are some posts out there in reference to this and other problems with the 3.0 port. The speaker quality is that of a $800-$1000 rig. I do not see what people are talking about with the keyboard not working well. It works fine.

Overall Review: Unpowered HDD's will stay connected to the usb 2.0 ports with no problem for your large file transfers. (I sure wouldn't want to use a fast port for some huge file...lol) I placed the order on the 2nd of Oct 2011 and got my package on the 13th. So not too bad for being stationed in afghanistan. There is no way i am going to send this baby in to get the usb 3.0 port fixed since mail is horrible out here. I'll just live with it. My 3 year old Laptop died shortly after I arrived in country. I'm Pretty happy with this rig but can only give it 4 stars due to the usb 3.0 issue

Updated Review

2.4G Bluetooth V3.0 Speaker + 1600DPI Mouse Combo w/ Built-in Microphone
2.4G Bluetooth V3.0 Speaker + 1600DPI Mouse Combo w/ Built-in Microphone

Pros: This Review serves as a an edit to my pervious. -The front mouse thumb button answers calls on your tablet. It is not a back button. I finally read the instruction book.

Cons: There is no back button. I use a windows tablet and wanted to have a mouse that didn't take up my only USB slot. It does just that. Since I browse full versions of Chrome or IE as needed, a back button would have been phenomonal.

Overall Review: For some reason while logged into my newegg account I cannot edit my review. Thought I could do that. So I am simply posting a new review to correct my error. I have not tested the mic yet but im sure it's fine. The brand on the box and labled on the mouse itself is Seenda. It's not really AGPTEK. But it has a sleek look and good heft.

Office on the go

ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen 2in1 Tablet with Dock, Windows 8.1- Gray (T100TA-C1-GR(S))
ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen 2in1 Tablet with Dock, Windows 8.1- Gray (T100TA-C1-GR(S))

Pros: *Light and durable when closed...I just throw it in the backpack as is and head out with it. *Keyboard has a USB 3.0 port *Micro SD Card Slot for expansion *Micro HDMI *Micro USB *Fast Processor (relative...for tablet) *Bright Screen and keyboard responsive (trackpad...meh) *MS Office home/student came bundled with mine

Cons: *rear facing speakers with low sound -1 egg right there (How did Asus expect us to hear our multi-media content with speakers that are facing the wrong direction for best sound?) *would be nice if the USB port was on the tablet itself.

Overall Review: I installed VLC media player and Letasoft Sound Booster to compensate for the extremely low speaker sound. I also place an open book behind the tablet to increase acoustics while playing movies. Once the trial for Letasoft runs out I will either pay for it or go back to not being able to hear very well. If you really just need a windows tablet so you can run Office on the go...this is a great choice for the price. Great value for the price...don't be a snob...realize this is an entry level windows tablet.

Fast Drive

Crucial MX100 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT512MX100SSD1
Crucial MX100 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT512MX100SSD1

Pros: *Cost was about 50 cents per GB *Comes with free download of Acronis True Image HD. The software made transition to the new drive seamless even thought the old drive was a 1TB physical drive. *Speed and Performance boost is radically faster. I can't say enough about the difference of switching from an old school HDD to a SSD.

Cons: *Had to download and register Acronis True Image HD. No CD of the software included. *No Cables or mounting hardware included. *Needed to purchase a 3.5" mounting bracket

Overall Review: I don't think the Cons are a problem unless you have no internet connection and were not prepared to install this SSD in your Computer. I ordered the mounting bracket the same day I ordered the SSD. They arrived in the same package...Go Newegg!

Rosewill RX-C200P 2.5" SSD / HDD Plastic Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay
Rosewill RX-C200P 2.5" SSD / HDD Plastic Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay

Pros: *Comes with more than enough mounting screws *Made of rigid plastic...almost couldn't tell it wasn't metal *Hole placement and design logical

Cons: *none

Gamers Point of View

AGPtek 800-2400 DPI 7 Button 7 Color LED Optical USB Wired Gaming Mouse + Blue LED Backlight Backlit USB Multimedia Illuminated Gaming Keyboard
AGPtek 800-2400 DPI 7 Button 7 Color LED Optical USB Wired Gaming Mouse + Blue LED Backlight Backlit USB Multimedia Illuminated Gaming Keyboard

Pros: *fast and responsive *change sensitivity on the fly *mouse fits the hand generally well *no shortcut/multi-media keys in the way to accidentally pull you out of game. *price ok *keys are nicely lit and do well in low or dim light

Cons: *The Mouse has the back button placed so that you will not tend to use it during game play. (large hands) (thumb buttons could have been place a fraction of an inch more fwd on the mouse) *enter/return key shaped long vertically instead of horizontally. (preference)

Overall Review: When holding the mouse...tips of fingers extended to the fwd most edge of mouse...you will not generally reach the back mouse thumb button during game play in a timely fashion. The frontward thumb button is fine though. You can position your hand differently but then will experience difficulty re-positioning the mouse when you run out of room. Over all this is a good combo set. The keyboard is simple and back-lit...very nice. The mouse is rather light but still feels really good for general movement and gaming. If you absolutely need both thumb buttons for gaming/raids...try another selection. I replaced an aging Logitech MX 5000 mouse/keyboard combo set and my gaming session was enjoyable.
