And the winner is...
Pros: Actually charges an iPad, instead of just maintaining charge plug it into an outlet, and it's ready to go again in 3-5 hours. DURABLE. I watched one of the guys drop this from a picker (about 15 ft up), and the thing is still working like a champ. Two USB ports to charge two devices.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: After purchasing and testing about 6 different Portable Power Sources for a warehouse environment, the IOGEAR came out on the top two. It was used to recharge an iPad and keyfob barcode scanner, and was in use (either charging or being charged) 24 hours a day for over a week now. It has been dropped 10+ feet and survived. definitely a 5 egg piece of equipment.
my office smells like fire
Pros: it charged fairly quickly (3-5 hours) maintaned a charge for an ipad for 4-6 hours. small and lightweight
Cons: I might have gotten a bad one, but i walked into my office and it smelled like burnt plastic and electricity. After being on the charger for 4 hours, the DC input burned, the board inside burned, and the case melted slightly.
Overall Review: As i mentioned, i may have been the unlucky 1/100 that got a defective unit, but where are the other 99 reviews that don't mention a fire? After testing a half dozen different PPS's, this was the first one to bite the dust.
Great all around
Pros: Fantastic value. This is the best "bang for your buck" 1080 27" monitor I've come across. colors were great straight out of the box. no flicker, no dead pixels, no issues with packaging.
Cons: Non-adjustable stand
Overall Review: Currently using it for photo editing, Adobe products. While researching, I was concerned that it had a slightly lower color gamut than similar monitors (94.6% sRGB). however, given that this is half the price of competing monitors, I'm glad I went this route. Calibrated, and minimal adjustment was necessary. Came out of the box near True Color. no comment on speakers, haven't used them.
bumpin
Pros: Loud Clear sound compact rechargable, no batteries
Cons: none so fat
Overall Review: This thing impressed me. I plugged it in to my iPhone, turned on some metal, and cranked the volume. This thing has quite a kick for such a small speaker. In bass mode and with the volume cranked, i watched it bounce across my desk. It has surprisingly clear sound, and was a lot louder than i expected.
convenient
Pros: Convenient carrying case. Assortment of useful tools.
Cons: Anyone that does any kind of solder work would laugh when opening this up. The soldering iron is pretty worthless for a PC repair kit. There are also a few bits and pieces I thought were pretty useless, but it all depends on what you're using it for.
Overall Review: Overall, this is a pretty convenient kit. I use mine mostly for floor repair of computers, and thermal label printer repair and maintenance. I scrapped the soldering iron (more hazard that anything), solder, crimper, and a few other bits and added in an RJ45 crimper, network/cable tester, and a multimeter, and it's now a perfect grab bag for what i do. Point is, this won't have everything that fits your needs, but it will probably have most of it.
one that works
Pros: I bought a few 4 port USB chargers, and this is the only one that would charge four iPads at a time. All the other ones seemed to have issues once you plugged in 2-3, but this one didn't.
Cons: Of course, it's a travelling wall charger, so it has different interchangable plugins. Unfortunately, they seem pretty cheaply made. I had one wire disconnect from the outlet plug on one piece.
Overall Review: What i needed was a 4 port USB wall charger that could charge 4 iPads at once. After trying a couple of other options, this is the first one that did exactly that.
