Cooler Master GX - 750W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

2 out of 5 eggs Noise, Noise, Noise 03/01/2012

This review is from: Cooler Master GX - 750W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification

Pros: It works. It's powering my
i7 920 @ 3.3GHz
2x 6870

Cons: It's loud. LOUD! I can't stand it! I want to turn off my computer right now but I'm writing this review.

Poor quality on these guys. Read other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Bought one in late 2009/early 2010. Installed it, and it was a little louder than my old PSU, but not dreadfully so. I could tolerate it.

After a few months, the whirring of the fan became unbearable. I dealt with it for a little while, but eventually RMA'd it. ($15 shipping from FL to CAL)

Received the second unit around December 2011. Now, March 1, 2012, the second unit is just as loud as the original.

Sure, I can RMA and spend another $15, be out of a PSU for 2-3 weeks, and take the risk of this happening again, but I think I'll just try a different PSU. Those 2-3 weeks are costly.

2 out of 5 eggs Review after a few months of use 10/08/2011

This review is from: Cooler Master GX - 750W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification

Pros: Powers my rig with no problem. I run an i7 920 at 3.4GHz and two 6870's.

Cons: LOUD! I bought the unit along side my single 6870, and it was noticeable louder than my old Antec 500w.

Now I've added a second 6870, and this thing is extremely loud.

I bought a new HAF 932 before the video card and PSU, and the case was so quiet. I was extremely happy.

Now, the case is super loud, and it's only because of the PSU. DON'T plan on running Crossfire or SLI unless you can tolerate the noise. It's near as loud as when I turn my video card's fans up to 100 percent, or as loud as the Xbox 360 when it gets hot.

Other Thoughts: Tomorrow, I'm auctioning this thing off. Hopefully the buyer is only using a single card configuration, because the noise is unbearable with two. I was happy at first, but I can no longer deal with the noise. When I can hear the PSU over the game's I'm playing, it's a problem.

Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and All-Black Interior
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Great cable management, lots of big fans for airflow, very quiet.

Lots of room for expansion. This case can fit anything you could possibly want.

This thing is an absolute joy to work with. Cable routing behind the motherboard was a cinch. There are no extra cables obstructing the motherboard.

Cons: The blue power LED is extremely bright. I might call this a pro since I can't leave my PC on at night because the light makes it hard to sleep.

I also don't care for the red LEDs on the front case fan. It's not obnoxiously bright or anything, I just prefer a case that doesn't have any more lights than it needs.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I bought this before they changed it. They added USB 3.0 ports and... I think they painted the interior black. Neither are things I care about, and I saved thirty bucks.
