4 out of 5 eggs Rating vs Performance? 01/19/2014

This review is from: D-Link Wireless AC750 Dual Band Cloud Router, 2x 5dBi Antennas (DIR-816L)

Pros: Many settings to support most any application that may arise from cloud to QoS to dynamic DNS to IPV6 and all the basic things too like DMZ, port forwarding, virtual servers, etc...Webcams, personal cloud Network Attached storage, printers, Chromecast, etc all work fine.
High gain antenna's make for great coverage areas.

Cons: Ratings are a funny thing - practical vs. latest and greatest? This router only has 10/100 Mbps wired ports, not gigabit ports (1,000 Mbps). But, no ISPs really provide service above 50 Mbps with 15-20 Mbps being more common. WiFi speeds on this router (lan speeds) are equal to other routers as they are standards based.

Other Thoughts: Although it is surprising to see only 10/100 wired ports on this router, all the other features, especially the antenna power is what will separate its performance in most households. As many know, the 5 GHz channel will be reflected off walls sooner than a 2.4 GHz signal. Thus, although a 5 GHz can go farther, it may be weaker in many areas of your home due to wave propagation. The lost egg was for the older wired ports.

Pros: big 10 point touchscreen, clever design for stand, mouse, & nice keyboard. I got the i7 version, great for android, Win8, and Lenovo games, as well as news/sports feeds. HDMI in to allow xbox, etc... to hook up. Thus it can work as a monitor or pc. Decent speaker set-up.

Cons: no hdmi out to allow for dual monitor support. Aura is NOT integrated at all. It does not support all video formats, only windows supported formats even if you install the VLC player. One cannot add/delete games to the interface either thereby rendering it useless. no support exists for aura . I am unsure why (maybe a registry error?) but touch screen close gesture does not work while the mouse close gesture does.

Other Thoughts: This has potential to be a really cool pc as it has decent specs (middle of the line bench-marking though for similar machines). However, Aura is part of what makes it unique and is essentially only eye candy due to lack of customizing and encompassing ability.

Pros: Works as advertised. deflector guides for edging are helpful. Rolls last multiple usages. Battery does last through my entire yard with constant power which is great.

Cons: String only seems to auto advance on a new roll. Once roll is about 1/2 gone it binds and even breaks off inside the roll...poor winding of the rolls I'd perceive.

Other Thoughts: 5" length seems to be adequate for my needs which is mostly edging although a bit longer would be more helpful when used as a weed whacker.
