Not "confusing" for experienced DD-WRT users

BUFFALO AirStation HighPower N300 Gigabit DD-WRT Wireless Router - WZR-300HP
BUFFALO AirStation HighPower N300 Gigabit DD-WRT Wireless Router - WZR-300HP

Pros: Firmware setup practically identical to other DD-WRT routers. I found this particular firmware to be a lot more stable than others I've used (on Linksys units) with regard to displaying correct languages, retaining new settings, etc. It was not confusing or un-user-friendly any more than any other DD-WRT firmware is - with great power (to change fine details of router function) comes great responsibility (to know what you're doing).

Cons: None so far. Only had it running about two months so can make no comment regarding reliability.

Overall Review: This goes for DD-WRT units of any kind, not just this one: if you don't know what you're doing with it, don't use the firmware. There are a lot (a lot) of options within it, which is what makes it so useful, but it can be overwhelming. This particular unit comes with the option of reflashing to a "user friendly" firmware with fewer options. For the average home user with less experience, this might be a better way to go. You can always change back later.

Most Critical Review

Not rock solid out of the box.

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-3662-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-3662-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Runs Borderlands 2 (which was a free game with purchase) at max everything (minus physx). I was due for a new card and don't play a lot of graphically-intensive games, so that's a performance level that I'm happy with - meaning, I don't know or care if it runs the latest Call of Battlefield Hero's Duty 25: Modern Splinter Ops 10 with max settings.

Cons: Getting the card running stable was a huge pain even with latest drivers. -Card didn't play well with Gskill memory (Ripjaws X DDR3-1866) - blue screens/crashes which necessitated rollback to slower Gskill memory -Card didn't play well with PhysX code in Borderlands 2 (at least) which necessitated turning PhysX to low in order to prevent crashes. Unsure where the problem with this was but that fixed it (and really, the physx effects in BL2 aren't that great anyway even when they did work right). Multiple reports of this out there FWIW. -Without use of EVGA Precision X fan curve profiles, card overheats almost immediately under load (with unmodified factory OC timings) crashing system. This is in a well-ventilated case with no prior issue of airflow with other cards. I don't know why card manufacturers appear to limit the fans so much (why put a huge cooler on a card if you're not willing to spin it up when you have to?). This means another piece of software running in the background constantly. -The above point of course means that (under load) the fan has to get loud enough that it's clearly (and somewhat annoyingly) audible unless using headphones.

Overall Review: It took a lot of frustrating, time consuming work to figure out all the inconsistencies and incompatibilities between this card and other hardware and software. I'm happy with it now and have no intention of selling or returning it any time soon, but I'd rather not have had to go through all that after just having plunked down over $300 for a new piece of gear. If I had it to do over again (and not having the benefit of my current knowledge of the issues) I probably would have gone with a different card. The compatibility issues between various hardware and software are to be expected, I guess, given the impossible number of combinations that can exist in the wild. Releasing a card that won't function (i.e., overheat) without the use of an extra utility is pretty unforgivable though. It's not that hard to just have the onboard temp sensor (which is already there) control the fan speed as necessary to manage heat.

Excellent value/ease of setup

Intel 330 Series Maple Crest 2.5" 180GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSC2CT180A3K5
Intel 330 Series Maple Crest 2.5" 180GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSC2CT180A3K5

Pros: -Excellent value for price paid ($100 Black Friday sale) -Included parts make for easy setup (bracket, cable) -Included software (Data Migrator) was extremely fast and easy to use -3 year warranty

Cons: None thus far. The big question with SSD is reliability so we will see, but I'm not keeping anything on them I can't afford to lose. (And there's a 3 year warranty through Intel, so it's not weighing on my mind.)

Overall Review: Unbeatable sale price and great reviews (on Newegg and outside) made for the purchase, but at MSRP of < $1/gb still a good value.

No issues

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

Pros: Went in system, run at advertised speeds (but not much over, if that's a consideration for you).

Cons: I could say "they're not faster" or "they don't overclock all that well" but they run as fast as expected and overclocking is an extra that one cannot always expect to have.

Nothing but the best

Eaton Tripp Lite Series Isobar 6-Outlet Surge Protector, 6 ft. Cord with Right-Angle Plug, 3330 Joules, Diagnostic LEDs, Metal Housing - 6 x NEMA 5-15R - 1440 VA-3330J-120 V AC Input- 20 V AC Output

Pros: Unit works and still consists of the same rock solid construction as ever. Just gives such a sense of security (that, and I've never had one fail on me - and even if I did, it's a lifetime warranty).

Cons: Compared to other options (which are otherwise inferior, admittedly) it's spendy.

Overall Review: I won't say that you can't kill one of these units, or even that I am employing them in an environment where it's likely (home office) but I've never had a lick of an issue with one and I have some that are probably ~20 years old.

Sometimes doesn't play well with others

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL

Pros: Worked well under light load.

Cons: Not sure if it was the motherboard (Asrock P67 Pro3, in system about a year) or the video card I had just installed (EVGA 660 Ti) but even under the most moderate load the system would go down hard with this RAM installed (about 3 months from install date) often with Memory Management problem reported in Win7 minidump. Reverted to slower RAM of the same size and make (Gskill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600) and problem went away. Noted that these PARTICULAR sticks at THIS speed were not on mobo compatibility list (though others by Gskill at same speed in different lines, and at different speeds in same line) were. All that said, none of them ever failed a long, long Memtest session, so I can't definitively say there's a bad stick.

Overall Review: Will keep these sticks for next build (making sure they're on the compatibility list) before I give up on them.

Never received; bogus tracking

Had the exact same issues as other commenters here. Tracking # was not valid for USPS or any other shipper. Newegg just directed me to the seller, though they did provide a phone #. Person that answered sounded like they were on a cellphone and said "some of the units went out without tracking" and said "should arrive by the end of the week". I won't hold my breath, hello chargeback.
