You will not regret buying this case
Pros: Very solid, no flimsiness at all, matte finish (harder to scratch vs. glossy finish - a MAJOR +++ in my book), plenty of room and expansion, sleek and professional-looking (which is what I like vs. the cases that have light-up LED fans, gimmicky designs, etc.), more than enough front USB ports, more than adequate cooling I like the fact that the case comes with thumbscrews that you can mount drives with - makes installation (and deinstallation, if necessary) a snap.
Cons: My front audio jack (for headphones) only worked on one side. Should be an easy fix though.
Overall Review: I used a Cooler Master case in my last build, and while it was OK, it wasn't nearly as good as this one. I always have a hard time finding a case because either they're flimsy or they look weird. This looks sleek and professional. I didn't buy this from Newegg, but I thought I'd share my 2 cents while I was writing reviews for the stuff I bought from Newegg. Bitfenix did an excellent job, and I thought that I should share that.
Hard drive works well, BUT price is TOO HIGH even after post-flood
Pros: No bad or reallocated sectors, works as expected. Will update if there's any problems.
Cons: Took off TWO EGGS *solely because of the price*. Not Newegg's fault though. Come on, the floods are over with and WD said so themselves that they are back to pre-flood production. About a year and a half ago, this was FORTY BUCKS. Hard drive is a little noisy when reading/writing, sounds kind of like an old drive out of a computer from the 90s :D
Great for the price
Pros: -IPS...great view angle -Crisp, clean image -HDMI/DVI options -Great value for under-$130 range -Glossy (don't know if this is a plus for other people, but to me, the image has a different look and the screen is easier to clean) -Looks great with Ubuntu
Cons: -Cheesy splash screen that lasts ~7 secs--no way to disable this (-.5) -Screen wobbles when making tilt adjustments or when moving (-.5)
Overall Review: What's the point of a splash screen on a monitor? Other than that, it's nice looking, whether it is on or off. Definiely an improvement over my el-cheapo $99 Acer 20" monitor that had a few stuck (or dead) pixels. Maybe it's a little too big...I see myself moving my eyes a LOT more often =)
Works as expected so far
Pros: Very quiet. It's also a single-platter drive, so it might mean a slight performance gain vs. multi-platter drives.
Cons: None so far. I hope it lasts me a good five years or so.
Great basic motherboard
Pros: DVI port, H61 chipset (rather the BIOS) does support ACHI, despite popular belief, inexpensive, works as expected
Cons: No option to turn off boot confirmation beep (yes I've tried "Silent Boot" in the BIOS), CPU latch mechanism was not so easy to work with, only two memory slots
Overall Review: Great basic motherboard for a build $500 and under. Foxconn is used by major OEMs (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, etc), so if the brand is trusted by OEMs, it's a good conjecture that this will be a reliable board for your build (YMMV).
Works, signal is weak though
Pros: Cheap, works, plug and play with both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04
Cons: Signal is weak, the best it's ever had was 4 bars. It's usually at 3, which sucks especially when transferring backups over the network. I'm not far from the router, which is situated a floor below (the floor is a standard residential floor, no fancy steel/concrete contraption that is found in high-rise/industrial buildings). The computer this card is in is almost directly above the router. It's not my router, because my laptop consistently gets 5 bars, 4 every once in a while. I bought a 7 dbi range extender antenna for only four bucks, hopes this resolves the problem.
Overall Review: You can buy a range extender antenna if you already have this card (or any card that has a poor signal) - it MIGHT fix the poor signal issue. Make sure it's the 1/4" diameter SMA interface.
