EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2983-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 04G-P4-2983-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, 26% Cooler and 36% Quieter Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Stays somewhat cool even under load. usually very quiet untill the fans kick up. very low power draw. every game i have played auto detects max settings. single player CoD:AW maxed 1080p almost no lag.

Cons: When i first powered this card on, it locked on first load before bios. then again after fresh driver install. about this time i smelled what i can only explain as burning plastic and sulfur. I was getting weird lock ups in games where my display would either go black or freeze the image. teamspeak and game sounds still played and i could see my mouse movement. i ended up dedicating a rail off my PSU for each PCI-E plug.

Overall Review: I purchased with this card the Corsair AX860i. when i started getting the lock ups i tried old drivers, bios settings ect. a friend mentioned dedicated rails for each pci-e plug. i also disabled the corsairLINK software on boot and my lock ups went away. If this issue stays away this card is a solid 5egg. card usually never gets over 69 degrees. some cool evga software and support. keep in mind this card is massive. i have a ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer AM3+ mobo and this card overhangs the board by about an inch or more. Buy this card.

not too shabby

ASRock X570 STEEL LEGEND AM4 AMD X570 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASRock X570 STEEL LEGEND AM4 AMD X570 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: easy to install. all the ports are well labeled. feels pretty sturdy.

Cons: BIGGEST ISSUE, be careful buying this board if you are running a ryzen 9. fortunately for me i got a ryzen 7, however i did my windows install, installed all drivers ect. and also grabbed the latest bios from the asrock website. windows would not load and also would not re-install with the latest bios. (windows error code came back saying hardware/software not supported by this operating system). lucky for me it looks like the latest bios was fixed for the ryzen 9. i installed 1.7 and everything runs fine. The release lever for the video card is a nightmare to get to. kind of hides very close to the ram and the huge m.2 shroud. for me it required using a screw driver to release my card and the whole time i was just saying "Don't slip, Don't slip." Similar issue with fan plugs around the cpu. there isnt much room in this thing. runs very hot, but from my research this seems typical for all x570 boards out right now. I dont run m.2 but it looks like if you ever want to install or swap drives you have to remove the video card and that shroud to get them in, seems like not the best design.

Overall Review: good board for the price. nice overclock features and it runs stable. make sure you download multiple bios on a flash drive so you can swap back to factory or try others that work.

Its arctic silver

Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G

Pros: I purchased this right before xmas. It said at check out delivery date of 12-30, which was perfect because my cpu and mobo was scheduled for the 28th. Ended up getting the arctic silber before the rest of my components lol

Overall Review: Good stuff, quick shipping, no problems

Cons: Not familiar with the brand.

Overall Review: works great.

Pros: cant go wrong price vs performance.

Cons: i'm not sure if its the factory fan or something with the new cpu but this thing seemed like it needed way more thermal compound than other builds i've done before.

Overall Review: worth the price for sure. benchmarks right where it should.

Awesome

CORSAIR AXi Series AX860i Digital 860W 80 PLUS PLATINUM Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply with C-Link Monitoring and Control
CORSAIR AXi Series AX860i Digital 860W 80 PLUS PLATINUM Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply with C-Link Monitoring and Control

Pros: Everything. quiet, modular, efficient, flatish cables, software. the corsairLINK is way cool.

Cons: some of the cables were extremely hard to get in. the corsair link seems to sometimes cause my system to lock up.

Overall Review: I would buy this again for sure. no regrets.
