RIP 2011-2014
Pros: +Sleek design and ergonomics +On the fly dpi adjusting makes settling into different monitors at lan events/tournaments amazingly easy. Set the middle setting to your main machine and the others in small increments 100-200 dpi apart and you can slide comfortably into any machine. +Custom Colors +Wireless to Wired
Cons: -Needs firmware and driver updates to fix bugs -Even after updates I needed to reduce the poll rate from 1000hz to 500. This did however stop all issues I had. -My laser died after 2 years 5 months of use, 5 months out of warranty :(
Overall Review: I got this mouse in 2011 so it does not have the synapse 2.0 stuff. I'm not even sure if the current ones that are 2.0 enabled have internal flash memory. I absolutely loved my Mamba and am considering getting a new one to replace it if I can confirm that I don't have to rely on this silly cloud nonsense and that these newer model 2012s are at least as reliable as the original 2012. That said, they are buggy out of the box from what I can remember and need driver/firmware updates and poll rates lowered to fix stability issues, but I had no other problems with mine. That said, mine was one of the initial 2012's so some of the newer issues with battery and synapse 2.0 may not apply.
Editing my old review
Pros: Just had to come back and do my old opinion justice after handling this for the last several days: Good quality sound, its wireless.
Cons: Ok, after having messed with this headset for the last few days I can honestly say that these will wreck havok on your wireless network. Even with changing channels on my router the computer will lose connectivity every 20 minutes or so until i reset the headset and the recieving dock. -If you have a 2.4 Ghz frequency wireless network, do not buy. If your neighbors have a 2.4 Ghz wireless network and you need revenege for something, maybe. Another thing I noticed is the longer the dock is plugged in the louder this nauseating high pitch, oscillating sound gets. Apparently it is comming from the adapter that plugs into the wall and other reviewers mentioned it comming from the base station. Whatever the case, I've never encountered something quite like it before and it literally is dizy'ing. Lastly, even if you do not have a 2.4 ghz wireless network, the headset will still pick up interference from nearby 2.4 ghz frequencies creating some static background noise.
Overall Review: You dont really feel the true weight on your head from the headsets, however, the pinch that these things give your head (to help support them) does get annoying due to the sheer size of these. If you are use to large headsets this probably is a non-issue. Else these could be really uncomfortable. In all, this is far from my first purchase from newegg, but this was one of my first two products I've gotten from Razer. The Mamba mouse I ordered with this headset has performed flawlessly (after updating the firmware to 1.04. The 1.02 firmware was ridiculously buggy) so I cant really say razer is awful, but in my opinion they really dropped the ball on these headsets. The 5.1 versions apparently suffer from similar issues minus the wireless interference, unless you have a 5ghz wireless router which is starting to catch on. All in all, I'm hoping to return these, would not recommend unless you are use to large headsets, have a direct connection and no 2.4ghz wireless traffic.
Pros: Not sure
Cons: Headphone jack is really poor quality. Apparently it is a pretty common issue for the 3.5mm headphone jack to break after putting in a pair of earbuds/headphones. The device behaves as if earbuds are plugged in at all time, and thus the speakers do not work. All calls have to be made through speaker phone or else there is no sound. Plugging in earbuds, you can still hear everything, but without them all media, phone calls etc dont work (no sound). Again, google'ing the issue and it appears quite common. Tried resetting the phone and everything already, nothing works. Going to have to RMA or something.
Overall Review: Could the windows phone UI and OS be any less intuitive? I mean, I thought windows 8 was bad, but at least i can navigate it. The windows phone OS is just absolute trash in my opinion. Even the most basic things such as alphabetizing settings options is just not done...
Pros: Sturdy build. Everything about the keyboard is solid. Comes with two braided cables, one for ps2 and one for usb. The rubber feet on this thing are insanely good at holding the keyboard down. Once you've found the perfect spot, no amount of keymashing will force you to reposition.
Cons: None that I've encountered. The keyboard has gone through two months of various gaming, sc2, battlefield, league etc. Have not noticed any oddities or malfunctions. Solid performance.
Overall Review: No flashy lights, but if you wanted that sort of thing there's another model with that.
Amazing for original galaxy tab 7'' owners
Pros: -A compact full-sized keyboard for the galaxy tab. -turns your tablet into a mini laptop -very sturdy, solid feeling. Was expecting something lighter and cheaper feeling so build quality is + -doesn't have to be charged/is non-wireless
Cons: none I can think of.
Overall Review: Not sure if this will work with the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0"), although that has usb on the go support for a usb keyboard with the usb otg adapter if bluetooth keyboards are not an option. I got this mainly because I have an older Galaxy Tab which does not support USB OTG like the newer versions of the tablets and galaxy phones. I'm not really a fan of bluetooth keyboards because it adds another battery that I have to be careful of. (and generally wireless input/output devices with the exception of my razor mamba (also from newegg) have all been a pain) In short, great if you want a keyboard that you can plug into your galaxy tab if you dont have usb support for the usb otg adapter and a usb keyboard.
Must have for Galaxy S2
Pros: at under $6 and free shipping this is a must have accessory for anyone with a galaxy s2. Just got mine in the mail today and tested it out, worked with my Rosewill Keyboard (from new egg also, item id: N82E16823201047), worked with most of my usb's flash drives and a generic dynex mouse (dont know why you'd want to use a mouse on a small touchscreen phone but you can). All of this was done on a stock T-Mobile Galaxy S2 with latest updates (no rooting required).
Cons: I have one usb flash drive that was not recognized by my galaxy s2, (its one i do a lot of my weirder stuff on so that might be why). Most likely a phone/usb stick issue and not the cord since the other usb's worked fine. Rooting the phone and downloading a rom that will allow access to more devices would probably fix.
Overall Review: The 90 degree bend sticks out from the left of the phone (looking at it straight on) so being right handed, i can hold this and have access to the buttons comfortably when i tilt the phone on its side. If you are left handed and tilt the phone so your left hand is holding the buttons, the cord will point up and may be annoying.
