More than 1 year old and going strong.
Pros: Easy set up. Works with Windows and Mac. I found it confusing to setup on Linux. Fairly fast. Can hide in a cupboard.
Cons: HDD probably does not a spin down. Annoying recycle bin type arrangement, that is setup by default, fills up your drive in no time. Disable this feature when you get the machine. EXT3 format, and USB connected HDD's need to be formatted with EXT3 to have full RW capabilities.
Overall Review: Overall a great product so far. However, I suspect that it could wear out the HDD, and fail one day.
Died after 18 months.
Pros: Nice screen. Navigation works well.
Cons: Died after 18 months (during use). Would not start beyond the "Garmin" splash screen. Would not do a hard reset. This is a well recognized fault if you search the Web. Phoned Garmin tech support - confirmed that it had bricked itself, and outside warranty.
Appalling GPS Reception.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Nasty. This product has incredibly weak GPS reception. Unless you're standing outside, it will not pick up a GPS signal consistently. In the car, it will drop the signal frequently, leading to dreadful accuracy and sluggish position updates. If you want to use this in the car for navigation r - don't buy it. If you want to use it for batting practice, it might work (for a while).
Overall Review: Don't waste your money - you cannot return these refurbished items.
Good router for the money.
Pros: Cheap. Gigabit wireless n router. Good range.
Cons: User interface is not as good as my previous D-link. Filtering by MAC address is entirely manual. Status does not list connected computers. Help is not well written. An option to overcome this is to flash with open source firmware. I did not try this. Made in China.
Overall Review: Newegg still insists on using foam peanuts for packing. They're a pain to dispose of and cannot be recycled. They should follow the lead of other retailers and change to something better for the environment, and easier to dispose of.
Problems on Macbook
Pros: Quiet. Cheap. Large capacity.
Cons: Installed on my Macbook. However, whenever the Macbook tried to sleep, it became unrousable. May be due to HDD sleep function. Reset Macbook PRAMs (helps with boot time), and SMC which had no effect on system freezing. Re-cloned internal drive, but did not improve.
Overall Review: May be an issue related to drive sleeping. I should not have to set the drive to never sleep. Recently upgraded Mac Mini with 320GB Hitachi 2.5" without any problems.
Good on Mac Mini
Pros: Swapped stock HDD on a Dual Core Intel Mac Mini with this one. Painless procedure. No problems at all (ran into trouble after performing a similar swap on a Macbook using a WD320GB Blue). Recommended.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I do not give five stars unless something exceeds my expectations.
