1 out of 5 eggs Appalling GPS Reception. 03/29/2015

This review is from: Magellan RoadMate 5230T-LM 5" Touchscreen GPS Navigation & Lifetime Maps/Traffic

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Nasty. This product has incredibly weak GPS reception. Unless you're standing outside, it will not pick up a GPS signal consistently. In the car, it will drop the signal frequently, leading to dreadful accuracy and sluggish position updates. If you want to use this in the car for navigation r - don't buy it. If you want to use it for batting practice, it might work (for a while).

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money - you cannot return these refurbished items.

2 out of 5 eggs Died after 18 months. 03/29/2014

This review is from: GARMIN 5.0" GPS Navigation with Life Traffic and Bluetooth

Pros: Nice screen. Navigation works well.

Cons: Died after 18 months (during use). Would not start beyond the "Garmin" splash screen. Would not do a hard reset. This is a well recognized fault if you search the Web. Phoned Garmin tech support - confirmed that it had bricked itself, and outside warranty.

TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N300 Router, Gigabit, 300Mbps, USB port, 3 Detachable Antennas / IP QoS/ QSS Button
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Cheap. Gigabit wireless n router. Good range.

Cons: User interface is not as good as my previous D-link. Filtering by MAC address is entirely manual. Status does not list connected computers. Help is not well written. An option to overcome this is to flash with open source firmware. I did not try this.
Made in China.

Other Thoughts: Newegg still insists on using foam peanuts for packing. They're a pain to dispose of and cannot be recycled. They should follow the lead of other retailers and change to something better for the environment, and easier to dispose of.
