Does this work on hardwood or linoleum floors? If so, is it easy to go from floor to carpet and vice versa? My 80 year old mother has a bad back and shoulder. Can this replace her 8 lb Oreck? Thank You in advance, for taking the time to answer all of my questions.

Yes, the knob on the base of the vacuum cleaner that is used to adjust the vacuum height has a setting for bare floors.  The vacuum is very lightweight and easy to handle; so, it would be ideal for someone with a bad back or other physical limitations.  Another feature that would possibly aid your mother is that the power for the vacuum is easily turned on by stepping on a pedestal on the back of the base of the vacuum cleaner.  It really is a great little vacuum cleaner.
