Question 1

I cannot find the size of ram of this nas. what is the size of ram? 8GB or 2GB

This model ships with 2GB of RAM, I would highly suggest replacing the RAM with 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory.  Many reviews at other sites recommended this, so I bought the memory to upgrade when I purchased the unit.

Question 2

What TV Streaming Devices does this support for it's media transcoding? Will it work with Plex Media Server?

I have mine running a Plex Media Server and it works great, but I don't have it doing any transcoding as it's all on the LAN and there are no mobile clients or anything would require the stream be transcoded.

I'm not sure if this is even what they mean with transcoding, as the device has a HDMI port for local use I suppose. I have never used this though.

I can say though that it does run Plex and can be installed in the devices apps available menu.

At the moment I can't test actual media transcoding from the Plex side.

Question 3

If I have all slots with hard drives data on them, and the NAS unit die, Can I buy a new unit and insert all the hard drives from the old one without loosing any data?????

According to QNAP one of their advantages to upgrading from an older NAS to a newer one is that you can simply take your existing drives and put them into the newer NAS without data loss. This is assuming you are coming from another QNAP brand unit, correct?

If I were you I would give their tech support department a call so that they can walk you through it and further solidify what I am saying is actually possible. But I am leaning on the fact that it is possible.

Why doesn't the LED Display light up?

If the LED Display never lights, there is a fault.  If the LED Display lights during boot and displays all boot messages and then goes off shortly after boot, there is no fault.  To see (and manually configure the Qnap TS-653-PRO,) momentarily press the "enter" key on the top right of the display.
Also, if you do not have this exact model, your QNAP may not have a display at all!  Most QNAP NAS devices are not manufactured with a display.

how many gig of memory is with this? I notice on other sites this model came with 8 gig and 2 gig which does this come with.

The TS-653-PRO comes with 2GB of RAM, the TS-653-PRO-8G-US comes with 8GB of RAM. If you don't mind tinkering with hardware, it is possible to upgrade the RAM on the 2GB version.
