Question 1

Description states that this is the "Cherry MX Blue" blackwidow ultimate but the pictures show that the led back lighting is green. My question is what color is the led back light for this keyboard green like the pictures display or blue as i believe the description is stating?

When talking about cherry keyboards.. My understanding is that the "blue" means the type of key stroke sound it makes. Like there is blue, black, and I think yellow.. And it determines how loud or soft it sounds when pressed. It doesn't have to do with the led backlight color, so it will be green if you purchase it :)

Hi, stupid question but I was wondering what color the LEDs on this keyboard are?  I can't seem to find that information here anywhere.  Thanks :)

The color is Green and it wont changes like some other keyboards. But I like it a lot, you can actually find some useful videos from youtube about this keyboard as well.

I see that it is back lit and in all the pictures the back lighting is green, but in the specifications it doesn't list a color. Is it always green or can it be changed?

This model's backlighting is green and it cannot be changed. If you want a blue backlight, look for an older model. If you want a red/orange tinted backlight, look for the new battlefield edition

Why does it say "mechanical" in the item name, but under specifications it lists it as not mechanical?

They messed up. It is a mechanical keyboard. A lot of keyboards use the same tech as a remote for a tv when it come to the buttons. They work good but can get sloppy and not work with age and use. When they go bad the keyboard is garbage. With a mechanical keyboard each button has its own individual switch. each button will make a clicking noise when pressed. This is the switch being activated. If the switch goes bad in most cases the switch can be replaced without replacing the whole keyboard.

I've seen many pictures of a blackwidow ultimate with the backlighting being blue. Is this the same kind or is it a different one?

This is the second time this question has been posted that I've seen so far. I do know there is a blue backlit keyboard. However, this is the same exact part number keyboard that I purchased and it is green in color. I'm not sure if it's a listing error or if it is a new option from Razer. Even on their sight it's unclear when trying to figure this out. Just to be clear the green is nice and very bright.

How loud are the Cherry MX Blue switches? I heard they were really clicky.

They definitely have a very audible click. I personally find it a very satisfying sound, and don't really enjoy rubber backed keys anymore because it doesn't quite feel like I'm doing anything. If you really want to avoid the click but still want the keyboard razer also makes a "stealth" edition which doesn't have backlighting and doesn't click, but is still mechanical.

Does this work on the mac OSX?

I would believe so, as long as RAZER has the proper driver software for Mac's, or else it would be really difficult to operate the keyboard without the proper drivers installed. Though I do no own a Mac, and have not tried this keyboard on a Mac, so I cannot be sure. Check the RAZER website, and see if there are any drivers for this keyboard for Mac.

What does one with 4 leads from the keyboard?

One USB lead for power and communication for the keyboard. One USB lead to power and communicate with the mouse. The other two leads are audio for you microphone in and earphones out. You may not use all the leads but you can bet they are handy. Personally I use them because my monitor is about 15+ feet (4.6m) away from me. I use a Hi-res 60" 3D monitor and need some distance from it; but my computer is behind the monitor. I have audio and USB active extenders that allow me to plug-in the keyboard leads and then plug my mouse, earphones and microphone into the keyboard. Yes I could use wireless but I have never found any wireless devices that can do as well as a hard-wired Razer device. This is just one way to use the extra leads. You might not use them the way I did, but the versatility certainly is not a negative. BTW I got the extenders from Newegg for a rock-bottom price.
