Question 1

Hello, I am currently just purchased this mouse because of its ergonomic build and reliable and precise sensor. I just wanted to know that the software and firmware are not going to give me any problems on installation?  and that way I have a new and nice that doesn't kill my hand when I game.

I had no problem going to the web page and installing the software that works with this mouse to enable all its features.  It is very sensitive, smooth, and comfortable.  I love it!  I run Win7 64bit and had a similar Logitech mouse with the same shape, but a bit larger, but I lost the ability to program the wheel button to be a useful function (I like to paste with it) and the addition of the second thumb button is nice for forward/backward browsing as well.  The default sensitivity is really high and it took some getting used to, but it keeps you from having to move the mouse very much and aids in comfort during gaming.

Question 2

Does the scroll-wheel have "weight" to it? IE does it take effort to scroll up and down and not just fly?

There's enough friction that it won't start scrolling if you brush by it. But just enough. It won't start flying if you scroll; this is due to the discrete notches along the wheel that give slight tactile feedback as you scroll. Scrolling feels natural to me because the curve of your middle finger falls right along the wheel.

Question 3

Buying this as a gift.  Do I need to buy a gaming mouse pad?  Does the mouse come with one?

The mouse does not come with a mouse pad, but it is incredibly responsive on all the surfaces I have used it on, (card tables, wooden desks, kitchen counters). In my opinion a mouse pad would not be needed with this mouse, it should work on any normal flat surface, but it would be fun to receive one as a gift anyways if you already had it in mind to buy one.

Is the lighting color adjustable?

No. Only color is green. Also my synapse 2.0 stopped working so I can't use any of the features on the mouse until I can get it working again. Problem is program will install but won't launch afterwards. Been trying for over a week now and thier support is crap. I would really go for another mouse. Save you a headache. Good luck.

Question 5

How is the coating on the mouse?  I have an older deathadder and the coating started to peel off (+10yrs of use).  Has the coating on the mouse improved?

I think it has improved, personally.  I used to have an old DeathAdder (one of the blue-glowing ones), and i agree the coating wasn't ideal.

While i believe they still use the same 'grippy' coating on the majority of the body (the m1 & m2 buttons and palm region), they made a change to ribbed rubber for the thumb rest, and the opposite finger rest (where you might put your pinkey finger and ring finger).

This is a very good change, in my opinion, as those were the areas that started to wear first for me.  It's where i'd put the most pressure on the mouse to hold it.

They also added ribbed rubber to the mouse-wheel, but that upgrade has less impact for me.  Don't get me wrong, I like it and all, but for me that didn't address any particular problem i was having.

I still like the rest of the overall construction and it remains the most durable mouse I've ever used (i like to game w/my PC; lots of FPS, so i'm not as huge a keyboard junky as much as an RTS fanatic might be).

I've broken 3x MX-518's from logitech due to my 'enthusiastic' use of the m1 button, but my DeathAdder's have never crapped out on me.  The MX-518 is still an awesome mouse (sorry Razer!), but I never found it durable enough for me.

In the end, I think you should get a mouse in your hand, think about where you hold it, think about where your coating wear has been worst, and then decide whether or not the changes to the DeathAdder design address those issues for you.  They did for me, but you know your grip better than I do.

Does this mouse have a 4D scroll-wheel? ( Can the scroll-wheel go left and right? )

No. The scroll-wheel only goes up and down.

Question 7

how well does the middle mouse button (aka the scroll wheel) press down?  I've been buying other mice that have a near impossible to push down middle button (looking at you Logitech).  I must have the middle mouse button do more than just scroll.

Yes it functions as a button as well as scrolling and does it well. It's the best mouse I've ever owned and I'm coming from a Logitech g500

Does it suffer from double click degradation?

I have not noticed any issues with this so far in the 5 months that I have owned my DeathAdder. Double click issues were the reason that I went from my Copperhead of 6 years to this DeathAdder.

Question 9

This mouse isn't a laser mouse, it's optical, do you notice, does it still have good precise aiming on FPS games, should i get a different one with a laser?

It has great response and your aiming will be well more precise than most other mice.  There is small rubber grips on the side for grip, great fit for your hand, and without messing with the DPI setting it's extremely precise.  I matched mine with Razer's mouse pad (Speed > Control for me) and I honestly couldn't imagine not using this mouse.  Only 'problem' I have had is I wish it had a blue glow other than green, but that's a pointless 'problem'.

Is the USB connector USB 2.0 or a 3.0?

It is USB 2.0 after looking at the connecter (which is white).
