Question 1

Does this need an external power supply? I see that it has a DC-in.

Accepted Answer

There is an adapter that comes with this unit. One end plugs into an AC power outlet, and the other into this modulator. FWIW I use mine to convert from an HD receiver down to a non-HD television. It works just fine.

Question 2

I have Coaxial input from cable box. I need RCA input to VCR will this device do this?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it should work for you if your cable box connects to the tv with coax. If it connects with HDMI you will have to change the tv input to channel 3 coax when you use the VCR. To quote another reviewer (Anonymous) "you simply screw the cable cord (The one you screw into the back of your TV to get cable) into the ANT. IN plug-in and another from the TO TV plug-in to your TV's plug-in. Once all the cable plugs are hooked up, you plug in the 3 plugs (The Red,Yellow,White Plugs) into the box and when ever you turn on your system it will appear on the channel of your choice depending on which your select on the box (CH. 3 or CH. 4)"
