No, you cannot add additional services. The only maintenence that can be done is to update its current software, restore factory settings or disable/enable any of the pre-installed services.

Can it play videos that are stored on the network hard drive that's hooked up to the router?

No, it only handles wireless content from the internet, and only from YouTube, Netflix, Picasa, hulu and vudu. No other services are offered.

It does, however, have RCA connectors as well as HDMI.

And the menus run extremely slow. Once a program gets going, though, there seems to be no hesitation.

I have been trying to connect to my TV but is not working.  Should you connect via HDMI to Cable box?

No, hook it directly to the TV. Stream through wireless network only. HDMI and RCA plugs are only out to TV.

Not that I can tell from our unit (for mlb.tv). We love our unit, but only pre installed apps work. YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, VUDU, pandora and picasa. NOT spotify either!

does this support DLNA / media servers?    any idea what codecs it supports?

No. It is literally a streaming medium. no usb inputs for media sharing. although it does support Picasa, but I haven't ever loaded a movie into picasa for sharing.

How to reset my network information ?

You can't reset the network settings...you would have to go to system settings... scroll down maintenance and select to factory reset, if you want to change your network setting scroll over to the wifi icon and scan for a new network. (You have to hit the back arrow on the remote to get to the top menu bar)

I like the roku for 3 of my newer hd tvs. But resolution on my older legacy hd 60" crt was grainy and roku admits there. is no fix. I've heard  with  the rca box this is not an issue.True?

I have an older tube TV with only component input for HD so I bought this.  Using the RCA input to my TV (red, white & yellow), the picture is pretty good.  It's a bit grainy when it initally tries to set up the stream but gets much clearer soon after (<1min).  I'm happy with it for what I got it for and price was very good too.
