Question 1

i have a new 17" hp laptop which i'd love to fit into this backpack; BUT will it work for my laptop?

Probably not, unfortunately. I have a 15.6" lenovo laptop, and it just barely fits in with a bit of squeezing around the zippers. It is on the big side for a 15"-range laptop, but still, I doubt you'll have better luck with a bigger computer. You might want to look into the Swissgear Pegasus 17" backback though. I haven't personally tried it, and it is a bit pricey, but I have heard a lot of great things about it. I do know there are a lot of people who swear by it and have used one for years.

One more piece of advice: if you can, be sure to double-check the laptop's dimensions against the internal dimensions of any bag you're looking at before you buy it. That kind of information is often (but not always) in the details or specifications section on the product page.

Question 2

This bag color is shown as red.  Does red refer to the trim color or is the entire bag red in color?

It's the two red trim lines on the back of the backpack and on the top handle strap that you can see in the picture...

Question 3

Has anyone tried to fit an MSI GE70 17.3 inch laptop into this backpack?  I bought a Rosewill one with really good reviews for my 17.3 inch laptop but it's friggen huge with LOTS of space, too much space.  It looks ridiculous on me, so I'm looking for a smaller one.

I have an HP laptop 16.5 inch by 10.5 inches (outside dimensions measured w/ a tape)  and it fits this backpack but not by much. Once zipped up the zipper teeth are just barely clear of the end of  my 16.5 inch laptop.My guess would be that any bigger laptop and you would probably be forcing the zipper enclosure on the end of the laptop either causing scratching or certainly minimizing protection.

Question 4

Does anybody know how big of a tablet it will hold?

You could fit a 16" tablet in there, assuming the borders of the tablet screen are comparable to those of a laptop screen. But I've never seen a tablet that big. I use an Acer 11.5" netbook in a neopreene case and it sloshes around in this backpack.

Question 5

Can someone give me the inside dimensions of the large, medium, and small pockets?  I carry many books to school at any given day and I need to know if it can hold the books to free up my hands for other stuff.

I'm sure the manufacturer doesn't give the inside dimensions because they're not well defined in a soft bag with an irregular shape, but here's my try:

Computer sleeve, inner dimensions are roughly:
	11" w x 14" h x 1.75" thick; max. ht ~16"

The computer sleeve is in a slightly larger compartment, but that one will hold little else than a thin notebook, if the computer sleeve is filled. If the sleeve was empty, the compartment's useable dimensions are roughly:
	12" w x 15" h x 1.5" thick; max. ht ~18"

Main compartment, inner dimensions are roughly:
	12" w x 15" h x 6.75" thick; max. ht ~18"

The small back compartment holds some pockets for small items, and these would often take up most of the space. Otherwise, the useable dimensions are roughly:
	9" w x 9" h x 1" thick;
	max. ht ~ 12", with another 3" above the zipper

That said, the seam-to-seam thickness on the bottom measures ~8.25", so the combined thicknesses are only possible with some bulging.
