Question 1

How stable is this? The last First From ASIA NVMe>PCIe adapter I bought randomly disconnected the drive three times since Christmas.

I only used it for a month, but because installed my M2 drive in a new laptop.  At first, I was getting faulty performance from my Corsair drive that was connected to this.  I switched it with a Samsung drive that was connected on the motherboard and found the Corsair drive was overheating and disconnecting due to heat.  This adapter worked well with my Samsung drive until I recently moved the drive back to motherboard and used the Corsair drive on another motherboard with an awesome heat shield (Strix ROG).

I’m still using the copper heat sink and am happy with the purchase and glad I have this adapter in case I ever need it.

will this work on win7 64 bit ?

Yes, BUT you MUST have the applicable drivers for NVMe devices to operate within the Windows 7 operating system. NVMe drivers are NOT native to Windows 7 (NVMe is native to Windows 10+). NVMe drivers are no longer provided by Microsoft for Windows 7. Do a Google search for NVMe native driver for Win7, you may get lucky. Also, if you plan on trying to make the NVMe the bootable device you MUST also find the "preinstall" drivers installed when loading the operating system. To use the NVMe device as a bootable device is one thing, using it strictly for data storage is another, each has applicable drivers. Also as an alternative, consider this card not found at NewEgg (Speedbyte B07ZQ15S43) which includes a heatsink with cooling fan (and it's cheaper). Shop before you buy, there are a lot of choices out there, some better than others. Hope that helps!

Question 3

Graphics card inserted to x16 will disable on board graphics. Will this card plugged to the x16 slot disable on board graphics too?

The short answer is No. Even if you plug in a graphics card and you also have on-board graphics, there is usually a switch in the BIOS to select which one to use.

The more relevant question may be if your motherboard and OS will support a NVMe PCIe drive. Also how do you intend to use it, as a boot drive or just for data storage.  WIN10 will have the hardware drivers, WIN7 won't and you'll have to load them from the drive manufacturer.  If you intend to use it as a boot drive (containing the OS) you also need to make sure your motherboard has a UEFI vs. standard BIOS that supports NVMe.  Good Luck!

Any reason this would not work with a Samsung 970 PRO?
It is for an older computer just used for CAD.
Motherboard is Intel DX58SO2
XEON 12 core processor
48GB memory

I installed Samsung 970 Pro onto Dell XPS 8900, then did clean install with Windows 10 Pro, with no issues. Just plug into 'X4' lane on motherboard PCIe slot. Motherboards are usually labeled, next to slot as 1X, 4X, 16X, etc.
