Red Dead Online begins with creating your character. Detail your appearance and attributes before you set out on your journey from Sisika Penitentiary where you’ll acquire a horse, set up a camp, hunt down a treasure, equip your first Ability Card, and meet some fateful characters with a larger story to tell; one that involves chasing the truth, revenge and honor.

Specialist Roles

Specialist Roles are unique paths of progression, each providing their own experiences allowing you to become even more deeply connected to your character and the choices you make as you inhabit the world of Red Dead Online. With each Role, you’ll always have new pursuits to embark upon that lead to unique items and skills as you progress, in addition to cash and gold payouts.

As you progress through each role, you will unlock new items, benefits and skills that enhance each role and your experiences across the world, from gun spinning tricks to improved Eagle Eye and more.

A Land of Opportunities is a thread of multi-part, story-based cooperative missions for two to four players.

Assist the recently widowed Jessica LeClerk and her right-hand man Horley in their quest for revenge against the men who killed her husband. Get to know some new characters in Red Dead Online, fight alongside fellow outlaws and earn a pretty penny along the way

Head over to the Stranger icons throughout the map alone or with your Posse to embark on Free Roam Missions. You’ll see some familiar faces along the way, and these missions can vary based on how noble or nefarious you are.

Compete on horseback in a variety of different racing modes in Red Dead Online. From the customary point to point and lap races across the map to target shooting while riding in Target Race variations, with more to come.

Use the character creator tool at the beginning of the game to set everything from your starting hair and moustache to your scars and freckles. You’ll also be able to tailor select stats to fit your playstyle. As you progress through Red Dead Online, a wealth of customization options will be at your disposal, whether it be taking to the plains with a brand new outfit or personalizing your arsenal.

If you’d like to revisit the character creation process after you’ve already made a character, you can make a new character once for free but will be charged for each subsequent character reset.

Throughout your travels you will always be accumulating XP, cash and gold – whether you’re taking on co-op missions, surviving an Ambush, attacking a Gang Hideout, finding treasure or competing in Showdown Modes. You can enjoy a variety of gameplay in Red Dead Online as you earn and progress all the while.
