Pros: This is the 6th Asus laptop I have owned. This is the smoothest and has the highest ease-of-use of the group. I am not a "geek" so there are things (the ROG programs) that I am clueless on how to use. But as with the other Asus machines I have owned I am very pleased with this purchase. My last Asus would burn my leg after awhile. This one the cat tries to sit on. And even then there is no sensation of heat.
Cons: Bloat ware. some of it is nice but some of it is "what the hell is it? Can I delete it? What does it do". The e-manual is sparse. Simply not enough information. Like where is the battery? Or there is no battery... As I am in my 60s, I have a problem with markings. Color coding the jacks for headphones/mic would have been nice as would marking the top with the type of plug below it on the side. Young guys I am sure will not find this a problem . My one serious criticism is the lite keyboard. At best the lighting is dim and spotty leaving me to believe I should return the machine for repairs. If there is an ambiance/light in the room, figure you do not have a lite keyboard. And given the inconsistency of the lighting, I presume the lighting is defective.
Overall Review: Would I recommend? Yes but would caution about the lite keyboard. Really big issue as my eyes get older. I am very fond of Asus computers but at times it seems they have a mind of their own (which could be just as much my fault as the laptops.) For instance, with this machine when surfing, I could use the pad to expand the page for ease of reading. Now I cannot. I presume I turned something off, but there is no guide to assist in discovering a solution. With the ROG programs, there is an attitude of if you are here, you obviously know what you are looking at. That is not true, at least in my case. So in summary I believe you get a great value for your money but there seems to be a unintended "not for rookies" attitude. And the lite keyboard, while a minor function is a major irritation.
Pros: Amazing boot time: 5 seconds!
Allows color grading without lag in Adobe SpeedGrade.
Allows video editing in Adobe Premiere without lag.
Great looking screen color and clarity.
Battery life is excellent, relative to the amount of juice required to power the hi-end features.
Read/write speed of the NVMe SSD is over 3,000MBps!
Even under major duress, the cooling system works so well, the keyboard doesn't heat up like most laptops.
So far, I'm absolutely loving this laptop. I mainly produce videos on it 95% of the time and only game 5%. That being said, I love having the capability of capturing raw video and seeing what the shot looks like in video editing software before moving on to the next shot. This beast is a workhorse for those who need the power of a customized desktop with the mobility a laptop offers.
Cons: Speakers are a bit weak, but understandable since you are going to use headphones.
Heavy... but what do you expect from a 17" workhorse? :)
Pros: -Gaming performance was nice for Arma 3
-Fast start up (when not glitchy)
Cons: -Keyboard LED stopped working had to uninstall and reinstall drivers
-Screen goes blank when waking using power button, hard reset required to fix this. (happens almost every time since new)
-Screen on startup from being off has strip of scattered pixels and takes three minutes plus to go into login screen. (usually takes 5 Seconds to full startup)
-Speakers are fuzzy/echos from new
-HDMI port doesn't always work sometimes it takes ten to fifteen minutes to diagnose between output settings and Smart TV settings even though its worked perfectly the day before.... Extremely frustrating when you're presenting in front of clients.
Overall Review: -Would not recommend for the fact it isn't working only a few months after purchase and am not sure how to fix....
Pros: - Easy to setup, easy to use!!
- Super fast, super quiet
- Runs the games that I care about like a Beast!!
Cons: - The dimmer on the keyboard was set to off at first.
- It gets warm pretty quickly when playing World of Tanks at highest possible performance. I wouldn't want to hold it on my lap, but with the laptop cooling stand it's fine.
Overall Review: - If you are looking for a great gaming laptop for a good price, I highly recommend this one. Great bang for the buck!
Pros: this laptop suck, fan blow out noise
Cons: Graphic card GTX 980 not that grade
Overall Review: not recommending to customer will end up return like my.
