How is a 10.4 pound laptop (and I assume this does NOT include wat is probably a 2 to 3 pound power brick) classified as "thin and light"? I mean - compared to the full tower desktop system that this laptop could easily replace, maybe they have a point. But this laptop weighs the equivalent of changing a pant size... Or 2.

It's been working out for me. As I noted in my review, I've done what I've needed to get out of it what I want. This can replace certain low-budget tower desktop builds. The trade offs are that you have to figure out a way to have plenty of desk space (with two 3 prong outlets), the balance of use a with fan-level management and finally the cost. You're paying for mobility (to a degree), which comes with certain inherent issues in it of itself. It's up to you, but depending on your situation and budget, you can build a tower that is cheaper and would come close if not be better priced and performance wise than this laptop. I wish you well with your decision.
