Question 1

Will this 550w power an emachines computer with an athlon quad core and a gtx 580 3gb? I got a corsair cx600 2 days and within 4 hours the fan started rattling. This one has 50 fewer watts but the same amps on the +12v rail. I suspect it will work. Ive read bad reviews about the loose power connectors and lack of a clip on the motherboard cpu 4 pin connector. Can it really be that bad?
I will either have to live with a noisy fan or buy something else. Can someone pass me a tissue?

Have you seen the power supply calculator tool? I'd been a newegg customer for years before my dad pointed it out to me: http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html Depending on your other bits, you might just squeeze into this one, but I prefer to leave a little headroom. Will I be able to SLI two gtx 760's with this psu?

The 760 under full load will be around 150watt per card. So approx 300watts for your SLI set up. Depending on what CPU you will be using, it should be able to power the system without a problem.  However you will be close to the power supply rating of 550, so this may effect the lifespand of the PSU. But it does come with a 5 year warranty.

will this fit an ATX micro case?

It will fit in a microATX case. However you have to organize the cables a bit more than you would on a bigger computer. I know this because I have in a dell dimension 3000 case

Will this fit my rig? I'm not really a monster gamer or anything. I am planning to upgrade my video card from gt630 to gtx960 and I'd like to know if this would be enough. I don't want too much wattage, just enough. Below listed are some of the specs to help:
core i5 3570k
8GB ram (2x 4GB ddr3)
6 USB ports (2 of them 3.0)
1 dvd-combo

Will this powersupply be really an upgrade? I currently have the free one from my case, around 500w maybe. Please help?

Your current 500w power supply should be enough for gtx960. The only benefit to upgrade to CAPSTONE 550 is probably it's more power efficient and may save you some electric bill.

I want to build a rig with an FX6300 O.C. and a GTX 760. Is this enough power?

I purchased this unit because I was just building an email Web surfer computer for a friend. Apparently you're interested in using this as a gaming unit. After building computers for some 15 years the power supply is the one unit you don't skimp on.. so rather than be marginal buy a larger unit and a name brand one.. I have had no problems with this power supply for over a year now and it's been running an 8 core A MD processor.
